KETE-KESU ( the traditional carving village )

 Typical Toraja houses at kete kesu villageKETE KESU VILLAGE STILL HAS THE TRADITIONAL CHARACTERISTICS.
Before walking forward to this village. From a distance you won't think that those are real  houses
with a series of curve-shaped roofs and curved walls of their rice-barns that are magnificent and  fascinating to those who searching local culture. This is the village where Ms. Prof. Kathleen Adams studied her research on Anthropology  and she stayed here with Mr. Sarungallo family.She speaks Indonesian and even the local tribe-language ( bahasa Toraja ) . Recently She was back to this village to pay her personal visit to the Sarungallo's family.

This village has four " Tongkonan" or Toraja Traditional houses. One of the houses in the middle,
its lower part is made as a kind of small museum. The inhabitants mastered the skill of carving and
painting which are able to be witnessed from those who are working there. Bamboo and wood
carvings are sold in this village
