SIMON CRAWSHAY
The big curly haired ruckman from Melbourne Grammar had an a good start to his senior career notching up nine games in each of his first two seasons. But it wasn't Crawshays overall performance at Gleferrie that put in in the hall of shame it was one play.

Round 6 1996 at Waverley park in a night match, Hawthorn had just got a great run on kicking about three goals in a row and getting back into the game. With Hawthorn on fire having all the momentum Crawshay marked the ball in the centre square. This was Crawshays first game of the 1996 season and he needed to make a good impression with the arrival of Paul Salmon. With all the momentum going the hawks way Simon had marked the ball looked at his options of who to kick to and should have kicked long do a lead but no he stopped put the ball on the ground and pulled up his socks.

We had all the momentum before this play and after this play be Crawshay Hawthorn had lost the momentum and ended up losing the game and this one play lost Crawshay his place at football and his chance at AFL football.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?

Crawshay after his delisting at Hawthorn Simon was not picked up by another AFL team in the draft. Simon is currently playing at South Adelaide and came equal fifth in the 1998 Magery Medal the SANFL's equivalent to the Browlow medal.
