FOUL Press Release
25th June 2000

FOUL (Fighting for Oxford United's Life) has issued the following press release:

"MORRELLS - THE BOYCOTT CONTINUES!"

On Friday Morrells of Oxford announced that they are appealing against the decision by a High Court judge refusing their request for an injunction to prevent building work recommencing on the Minchery Farm stadium. Oxford United supporters group FOUL (Fighting for Oxford United's Life) has therefore urged all those who care about the future of the football club to continue with their boycott of all Morrells outlets, called when the injunction was originally proposed.

A FOUL spokesperson said "Naturally we are disappointed with Morrells' decision to appeal, although from their actions in the past it does not come as a surprise. We requested people to maintain their boycott until we knew whether or not Morrells were going to appeal and their decision has vindicated this request."

The spokesperson continued: "All Oxford fans were hugely encouraged by the original verdict, which was the first piece of positive news we had received for a very long time. The decision to appeal certainly put a damper on things and also gave the lie to Morrells' claims that they are motivated by their shareholders' interests as they are almost certain to lose again despite the high costs of mounting an appeal."

No date has yet been announced for when the appeal will be heard, although it is unlikely to be before the result of the Judicial Review is known, and could therefore lead to yet further delays in the completion of this long-running project.
