" We will preach the truth to a new generation:
The doorway to all freedoms is framed with muskets.
It's time the apologists step aside and let freedom's followers lead the way."

-- Charlton Heston, President, National Rifle Association

1. Your Location - Before heading out for a hunt, inform someone where you are headed      Tracking a person or a group will be much easier if they know the location.
2. Stay together - if with a buddy, DO NOT Separate. You need to stay warm with body heat.
3. Do not Wander off - People can't keep finding you if you move around. Your rescuers are moving slowing in search for clues.
4. Warm Place - You need to stay warm and away from the wind & rain. Also try to stay visible for people looking for you.
5. Carry a Whistle - Noise will travel for miles in the woods, so people will be able to hear you. Even if familiar with area it's smart to always carry one.
6. Wear HUNTER ORANGE - or at least carry a HUNTER ORANGE vest in your back pack, hang on a stick to attract people.
7. Cold ground - Don't lie on the cold ground. You can lose precious body heat. Build a mattress with branches, moss and leaves.
8. Eating anything Wild - Be careful what you eat. Along with being hungry you don't want to get sick from anything you ate.
(Note: If you own a Cell Phone, it may be a great way to call for a rescue. A rescue could take a few hours, so you may need to start a camp fire to stay warm. Basics are to stay warm and calm.)

Deer can live up to 11 years.
Food types include grasses, shrubs, leaves, needles and "mast" from oak, beech and apple trees.
In areas of overpopulation, deer can cause an "over browsing" affect which destroys most plant species up to six feet, destroying the forest renewal process. Gardens, plants, and shrubs can also be destroyed.
Deer establish a territory and will not leave it.
Deer are known to starve or drown rather than leave their domain.
Two deer without predation can produce up to a herd of up to 35 in just 7 years.
Deer require 10-12 pounds of food each day most of the year.
In late winter their diet is supplemented by stored fat.
When deer run out of stored fat and available browse they start to metabolize their bone marrow and starvation is eminent.

The conservation plate is available three different ways. In New Hampshire, all vehicles are registered annually during the month of the owner's birthday, or if it is a new car purchase, at the time of sale. Because many residents will want to purchase the conservation plate before their birthday, the state will sell the plate through advance purchase gift certificates. You can also purchase the plate through on-line town offices and at the Division of Motor Vehicle substations.

"I have little patience with people who take the Bill of Rights for granted. The Bill of Rights, contained in the first ten amendments to the Constitution, is every American's guarantee of freedom."

-- President Harry S. Truman

  Butchers in New Hampshire

The following is a list of butchers in New Hampshire thought to process moose and other game meat. The Fish and Game Department does not license, regulate, or rate the quality of meat processors, and it is in your own best interest to investigate a butcher thoroughly before hiring him or her. This is not intended as an exhaustive list of all individuals available to butcher your game. Additional butchers may be located in the phone book or by contacting local sportsmen’s clubs, license agents, taxidermists, and N.H. Fish and Game conservation officers.
