Young Perez

Victor "Young" Perez was born in Tunis on October 18, 1911. The "Tunis Terror" began his professional career at the age of 17 in 1928, and quit in 1938 at the age of 27. In the interim, he chalked up an 89-27-16 record. His 16 draws were more than any other flyweight champion.

He won the flyweight crown from Frannkie Genaro, with a second round knockout in Paris on October 26, 1931. He held onto the title for 370 days after that, losing it to Jackie Brown, in a 13 round knockout at Manchester, England.

He was a plodder who fought like a carnival roustabout. It is believed that he ultimately died in a German prison camp in 1942.
