| One of the many fresh faces to the Spartan wrestling program, Jeff A. Smith is an 18-year-old freshman from Leigh
High School in San Jose. At SJSU, he will wrestle at 150 and 158-pounds. At Leigh, Jeff made the Dean's List both
his junior and senior years. He was a four time letterman in football and wrestling at Leigh. Jeff was was voted
Most Inspirational Wrestler his senior year, and was all-league and league champion that same season. He is an
education major with an english minor and hopes to continue into teaching upon graduation from SJSU. Born 6-24-61

| A second season freshman after red-shirting because of injury, Jeff is ready to go to the mats for the Spartans
in 1981. He is an aministration of justice major. "Smitty" hopes to become a police officer upon graduation
from SJSU. |

| In his third year as a Spartan, Jeff is only a sophomore athletically due to a red-shirt year because of injury.
"Smitty" is looking to improve his losing record of a year ago. And if hard work and dedication mean
anything, he will improve his record easily. Jeff is also involved politically at SJSU as he is the student male
representative to the Althletics Board which makes recommendations to the president of the university regarding
athletic policy. In addition, Jeff is an administrative aid to Coach Kerr's Spartan Wrestling Camps. |
