| Notes & News (5/13) Conference meet, baby!! SC put up some great performances today, led by the 4x800 team and Orlando Short. Orlando got 4th in the Shot and is looking to be in the medals for next week's state meet. The 4x800 team was one of the biggest surprises of the day, however, as Greg Short, Frank Roach, Chris Martin, and Enos Benbow set a school record and got 4th place, just 1/10 of a second behind 3rd place Dover. The guys will be seeded #5 at States and also have a legitimate shot at a state medal. To Mark D.--What about your skepticism now? Also, big shout out to Frank Roach who is among the top 5 freshmen in the state in the mile after running a 5:08. (5/19-20) We finally had the state meet on Friday and Saturday. Nothing went quite as planned, but SC still had a pretty good weekend. The 4x800 team, picked by some to win a medal didn't even place (7s. off last week's time), and Orlando didn't win the shot, but we still managed 10 points. Enos got his first ever state medal by edging out Matt Jackson for 3rd in the 800, and Orlando Short got 4th in the Shot. The 4x400 team closed out the meet with a 10th place finish in a time of 3:45, their best of the year. Most importantly, though, this means that XC training season is here!!! |
