Boo-Yaah ELCD frame: We have received a number of inquiries about how Ya-Ya likes the ELCD conversion. Well, the verdict is in. It ROCKS! It went on the gun without any trouble, it is easy to operate the functions, and the ever reliable Spyder now has a mouse-click trigger. This conversion is well worth the money for those who already have a Spyder and don't want to shell out huge sums of money to go electronic. Granted, the ELCD is not cheap, per say, but it is cheaper than most electronic guns out there, and so far there have not been any reliability issues. The only complaint about the system so far, is that the ELCD grip frame comes with a cigarette lighter charger (which is a good thing), but does not come with a wall charger (which is something that is awfully helpful if you don't live in your car). This was easily fixed with a cheap adapter from Radio Shack, however.
Despite the fact that Ya-Ya now uses an EM1 as his primary gun, his ELCD equiped Spyder has provided numerous players, on our team as well as other teams, with an effective, reliable, yet reletively inexpensive back up.
Center Flag Uprising: Kid Prozac had one of these electronic trigger conversions put on his Free Flow the day before the Mardi Gras Open. He was more than a little nervous about making a major change to his gun the day before it would be called into service, however his fears proved to be unwarranted. The Center Flag techs did an excellent job of installing the trigger frame, they explained why and what they were doing as they worked, and the gun funtioned flawlessly once they were done. The next morning, during the pre-game chrono session, a problem developed however. For some reason the gun would only shoot one ball for every two pulls of the trigger. Kid Prozac immediately took the gun back to the techs at Center Flag, who quickly discovered that they had forgotten to put a dab of loc-tite on the timing rod retaining screw. With a quick re-time, and a little loc-tite, the gun has functioned flawlessly for a total of 12,832 shots, to date. The conversion was a little expensive, but for those of us who love the look, feel, and sound of our autocockers, it is well worth the money. It is hard to put a price on an autococker that has a built in timer, and a trigger pull shorter than that of a stock Angel, and all without any ugly black boxes attached.
