This page is dedicated to my group of gamers, the Robotech gang as I like to call ourselves.
The Robotech Role Playing Game (RPG) started it all for us. It is what brought most of
us together. The gang of four has been up to this game for about four years now. Although
the original group was just three, we like to consider the addition part of the original.
It started out when I was a sophomore in high school. Being an addict of the great
anime cartoon, I had to get into the game once I saw it. I am a veteran, having prior
experience with Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) so this game wasn't much of a difference. I recruited my good friend and soon he
got into it. Next thing you know, he did the same for a guy in his English class. This
was the start. For about a month, we would have sessions every Saturday, until the new
guy brought his brother along. He too got into it since he loved the anime, just like
his brother. The group was now formed.
The next thing was to choose a name for the group. They decided to go with a temporary
name: The Esmerald Squadron (ES). A logo was then added, which had an esmerald and a
serpent like S in the background. Months later it was decided that the name and logo
would remain.
The game had many ups and downs. There was the laughter and excitement, and then
there were times of frustration and anger. But through it all, we stuck together and
continued with the game. In this time frame, many prospects were being decided on. There
were a few, but conflicts in getting together and various other things got in the way
which resulted in them never joining.
Now the only thing that is stopping us from having are sessions are the distances
and time between all of us. I, of course, am in college, one is in his first year, another,
is in Army Infantry, and the other, his brother, is in the Marines (We're all proud of you
man!). But once in a blue moon, just like March 13, 1998, we were all in town. Of course
we had to take advantage of the situation, so we set up a session and played like the
old times until early morning.
But who would have thought that the Robotech RPG will become such a big part of
our lives. It started out as just a game every Saturday morining. It then became all
of Saturday (Our record was over 11 hours of straight gameplay. The only breaks were
when we ordered food to go and an ice cream break). The next thing you know, it was
anyday we were available to finally, whenever we had time to play, which would last until early morning.
It was that much fun. The latest addition, is also in his first year of college.
The game has had its impact on us. Certainly for me. A lot of my time was spent
enjoying the game. I guess the time has finally come when the game has come to an end,
however, if we are all able to get together, you can see a session in the future. I'll
always remember those times.
Now, I guess it's over. But phase three looks promising. I have a few people interested
in starting up. Maybe it won't be like old times, but new adventures can be made.
Info on the group will be posted here later including characters.
