Re: All Star Participation Guidelines
Congratulations on your daughter being selected to participate on the 2001 New Windsor Little League Minors Softball All Star Team! The team will represent the Town of New Windsor as we compete with other New York State teams for the right to advance to State Championship game. The Tournament, which begins on July 10, 2001, is double elimination at each level. We will play a minimum of two games in the statewide tournament and will fill out our schedule with local tournament action.
The New Windsor Little League Softball Board of Directors will soon be placing an order to purchase the following equipment for each girl:
* Sleeveless Uniform Top with "New Windsor All Stars" on the front and the
player's name and number on the back.
* Softball Shorts
* Visors
* Sliders (to be worn under the Softball Shorts)
* Socks with a matching stripe
The parents or guardians of each player will be required to split the cost (with the Board), for this equipment. We believe that it will cost you $30-$40. The New Windsor Little League Softball Board will pay all sanctioning fees, entry fees, and umpiring fees.
On Saturday, June 16, 2001, the coaching staff attended the District 19 Tournament meeting and received the schedule for our initial Tournament games. The schedule will be posted on the web site as soon as possible. It is our plan to play between six and eight games during the month of July.
There will be a mandatory meeting for all players and their parents or guardians at the conclusion of the Minor League Championship Game on Tuesday, June 19, 2001. The meeting will be at approximately 8:30 p.m. at San Giacomo Park. Time critical information will be distributed.
The National Little League Office requires that we reconfirm your daughter's age and place of residence. We will need, by Thursday, June 21, 2001, a notarized copy of your child's birth certificate for the coaches to keep for the duration of All Star Tournament play. The copy will be returned to you at the completion of the season. To verify residency, you must provide three or more of the following documents:
1. Driver's License
2. Voter Registration
3. School Records
4. Welfare Records
5. Federal, State, or Local Records
6. Support Payment Records
7. Homeowner or Tenant Property Insurance
8. Utility Bills
Many of you have already been asking some of the more obvious questions: When will we play?, Where will we play?, What about vacations? Are practices mandatory?, etc. The answers to the first two questions can't be detailed because once the State Tournament begins on July 10th, our schedule depends on whether we win or lose. It is our understanding that we will play most of our early round games during the week (about 5:45 p.m.). The rest is up in the air. We do know that none of the State Tournament games will be played in New Windsor.
Vacations and practices are a more clear cut matter. Players that miss more than two practices or games may be removed from the Team Roster. We expect our players and parents to make a serious commitment to making this a positive and rewarding experience.
Summer Tournament rules are considerably different than the rules that we play by during the regular New Windsor season. Rule variations are posted on this site. As a result of these rules variations, our practices will be even more critical to the overall success of our team. The regular season was for the general skill development of all of our local players. Tournament time is when we take our best players and hone their skills so that they may proudly represent us all to the rest of the state.
We would like to reiterate that you and your daughter will need to make a serious commitment to us and the team for this to be a successful endeavor. We in turn, pledge to do everything possible to make the next six weeks of softball action a wonderful memory that will last a lifetime.
