1999 was a great year for Bushi-Kai!

Midpoint in the PKC State Season

In the PKC National point standings, we had 7 students place in the Top 10 in the Nation.  

Due to their wins at the PKC Nationals, 4 students - Emily Koontz, Clay Christal, Chad Adams and Amy Penrose also qualified to compete in the USKA Nationals April 15th, 2000 in Albuquerque, NM.

Amy Penrose - 1st in Kata, Women's Novice Division. 2nd in Kumite.

Emily Koontz - 3rd in Kata, Women's Novice Division, 3rd in Kumite.

Tina Lenz - 6th in Kata, Women's Novice Division, 9th in Kumite.

Chad Adams - 4th in Kumite, Men's Novice Division.

Clay Christal - 9th in Kumite, Men's Novice Division.

Carly Wasson - 8th in Kumite, Girls Intermediate Division.

Daniel New - 9th in Kumite, Boys Advanced Division.

State Standings - PKC

For the 1999 season, we placed 9 competitors in the Top 10 in the State of Indiana.  The Bushi-Kai Martial Arts school itself placed #10 in the State of Indiana among all of the PKC competitive schools.

Emily Koontz - 1st in Kumite, 2nd in Kata.  STATE CHAMPION !

Amy Penrose - 1st in Kata, 2nd in Kumite. STATE CHAMPION !

Chad Adams - 1st in Kumite. STATE CHAMPION !

Carly Wasson - 1st in Kumite, 3rd in Kata. STATE CHAMPION !

Steve Penrose - 1st in Kumite, Heavywt. Div. STATE CHAMPION !

Clay Christal - 2nd in Kumite, 3rd in Kata.

Tina Lenz - 8th in Kumite, 5th in Kata.

Alex Noonan - 7th in Kumite, 6th in Kata.

Monte Troxell - 9th in Kata.


Battle of Atlanta

 Emily Koontz traveled to the Battle of Atlanta, one of the most prestigious tournaments held in the United States.


Emily placed 1st in Kata, and 2nd in Kumite.

This placement also qualified her for the 2000 World Millennium Games to be held in Sydney Australia.

PKC Full Contact Kickboxing   

Chad Adams and Emily Koontz began training in November with Shihan Ron White in Muncie, IN as Full Contact Kickboxers.  On Dec. 4th 1999, Chad Adams had his first fight. Chad won in 3 rounds by an unanimous decision.
