Chris Jericho at Concert, Hardy Boyz Update, Bobby Rude
Written by Robert Fransecky on June 14, 2001
-There will be a Hardy Boyz autograph signing in Pickering before the WWF show on Saturday, June 16. The Boyz will be at the Pizza Pizza in the Amberlea Shopping Centre, 1822 Whites Road @ Finch from 3 - 5 pm.
-Watching Bobby Rude hold court in the squared circle at Exhibition Park in Halifax, you would come by the honest assumption that a path to wrestling success was predestined. He struts to the ring with the pomp and circumstance of Ric Flair, grabs the mike, and proceeds to cut promos with the same ease and style that the great ones do. The driving rain of boos and insults that greet him, along with some scattered cheers, give him extra stride in his step as he gets just what he's looking for from the crowd. For more, Click Here.
-On Tuesday, Michelle Starr left Vancouver for his fifth tour of Korea with the WWA. Pretty good work if you can get it, especially because his involvement in the tour came about almost by accident. Like almost every other Canadian who has been to Korea to wrestle over the past year, Starr owes a debt of gratitude to world traveller extraordinaire, Winnipeg's Rick Patterson, aka Leatherface. Patterson has been talking up his countrymen and women to WWA booker Roberto Rodriguez, better known to international fans as Leatherface's long-time partner in crime Jason the Terrible.
-After gaining some ground during the last ratings period, Smackdown! has tumbled once again. For the May 28th to June 3rd time frame, Smackdown! looked like it was on its way back up the ladder pulling in an encouraging 4.2 and was slotted at the 64th position on the chart. However, the victory was apparently short-lived as the latest numbers for the Prime-Time Nielsen ratings for the week of June 4th to 10th show that Smackdown! couldn't sustain that momentum. Smackdown! drew a 3.9 and in doing so was ranked 71st out of 132 shows. One bright spot for the WWF is that Smackdown! defeated a "real" sport as Game Six of the Stanley Cup finals between Colorado and New Jersey only brought in a 3.5 in the United States. The Number One show was Game Three of the NBA finals (12.7). The rating is the percentage of the America's estimated 102.2 million TV homes. Each ratings point represents 1,022,000 households.

-I went to the Fozzy concert last Friday at the norva in Norfolk. Here are some notes from the concert:
I think I figured out that Fozzy is actually Chris Jericho with the band "Stuck Mojo." If Stuck Mojo isn't his backup band, then they're borrowing their instruments. Seeing the big boxes of band equipment with Stuck Mojo written on the side sorta gave that one away. You could tell that most of these guys have played together somewhere because they were very cohesive. The attendance of the show was somewhere around 100 to 125. When Jericho came out, there was initial disappointment in his face at the size of the crowd. Nonetheless, Fozzy got the small crowd really into it and played such classic rock songs as "balls to the wall," ACDC's "TNT," and I believe it was Def Leppard’s "Rockin Like a Hurricane." (ed. note: that’s actually a Scorpion’s song). They played other metal songs that I saw other people lip syncing to, but none that i knew. Jericho sang all the songs and he could really hit those high notes. Jericho and the band were really nice and stayed after the show and signed autographs for everyone who wanted to stand in line. On a funny note, one of the Fozzy t-shirts for sale read "Proud to be a Fozzy Floozie." Lastly, Chris Jericho himself is closer to what WCW had him listed as at 5'11" as opposed to what the WWF lists him as at 6'1" if you get a chance to see them, I would recommend it. it was a lot of fun.
