Backstage News From Raw
Written by Eduardo Perez on June 12, 2001
Thanks to Dave Scherer for the following:
The only "WCW" person backstage at Raw last night was Shane Helms. Rob Van Dam was not at the show, contrary to rumors that were circulating yesterday.
I talked to a few people backstage who had conflicting stories as to whether Dallas Page has actually signed yet or not with the WWF/WCW. At this point, I am not sure what to believe on that story. It could be that they are keeping it hush hush, or it could be a done deal. Or, it could be an almost done deal, as was the case last time I heard definitively. In any case, it was odd that no WCW people were on the show last night despite the fact that the WCW angle was played up heavily.
Amazingly, Kurt Angle was up and moving around fine last night in the back after hitting his incredible moonsault from the top of the cage on Raw. I did hear from a few people that as the night went on, he was starting to stiffen up a bit and would probably be feeling the effects from the move today. Unlike a spot such as Chris Benoit's head butt from the top, where the wrestler can at least spread out the impact of the bump over his whole body, Angle doing the moonsault from the top largely had him hit the mat "blind" and it was almost impossible for him to prepare for the landing. He is a tough guy, no doubt.
