UWO. Kobashi was looking for some revenge against Duck and he got it in this No DQ bout, after a wild interference ridden brawl Kobashi got the pin on the mallard in 18:41.

UWO 'Super Card' to decide the UWO World Champion. First there was the battle royal rumble with the final two remaining competitor's to fight for the title later in the evening, after a exciting battle royal, Kobashi and Craig Griffiths were standing and so they would face each other for the UWO title! A close match between the two saw Kobashi unable to put his opponent away, that is until he KO'd him with his nunchuks behind the referee. Akira Kobashi becomes the first UWO World Heavyweight Champion in 11:13.

UWO. Kobashi's first defence of his World title came against No.1 contender Savage Warrior, Kobashi's outside interference backfired and it was Warrior who received the victory via countout in 9:42.

UWO. It was a Champion vs. Champion bout for Kobashi as he faced UWO Inter-State Champion Rick Avery, Kobashi showcasing his superb submission skills with a Figure 4 submission of Avery in 14:55.

UWO. Kobashi took on his nemesis Duck in his speciality 'Duck Pond Match', the match was held on a small island surrounded by water. A very strange match where trees, nettles and fences were used as foreign objects, Kobashi beating Duck on his own island following a piledriver on to a rock then the Perfect-Plex in 17:49 for the victory.

UWO/GWA WrestleFest II, the Centroplex, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The main event of this great card was a awesome encounter between UWO World Champion Kobashi and GWA/CWF Champion Jason Beadle, an exciting but unfortunately inconclusive bout which ended in a double-countout in 16:18.

UWO. Kobashi faced Ric Paradise again, with his hometown fans behind him, Paradise managed to pull off the upset victory with a small package. Fortunately for Kobashi this was a none title bout.

Kobashi put up his title against Savage Warrior in a 2/3 Falls Match, Kobashi took the first fall with a DDT, Warrior evened it up at 1-1 soon after and it was Warrior who took the deciding fall following interference from Ric Paradise and Ted Bundy to relieve Kobashi of his World title in 21:43.

UWO. Kobashi fought Hans Lauder in a 60 Minute Time Limit bout, Kobashi didn't take 60 minutes to finish Lauder though, he trapped him in his Figure 4 Leglock in 23:08 giving Lauder no choice but to submit.

EFW debut. Akira Kobashi though did not appear as the 'Perfect Package', but instead as the mysterious face painted 'Japanese Suplex Machine' The Akiramaniac. Akiramaniac took on the psychotic Legion in his debut, in a absolutely brutal bout, uncharacteristic of the UWO Kobashi. Akiramaniac dominated the bout and destroyed hard-core legend Legion with his new finisher the Skull Cruncher Backdrop Driver. Immediately following his debut he competed in the EFW TV title(shot) Battle Royal, the rumble was packed with talent but incredibly, after just coming through a intense match with Legion, Akiramaniac was the second to last man standing, only being eliminated by the eventual winner Thunder Warrior!

EFW 'April Armageddon' PPV. The Akiramaniac's first PPV outing under his new gimmick proved to be a successful one, amazingly he defeated Red Tyler, a renowned shootfighter in a 'Shoot-fight' match, Akiramaniac sealed the impressive victory with a Boston Crab.

EFW. Akiramaniac defeated Def Con One following his patented Skull Cruncher Backdrop Driver.

EFW. Akiramaniac received his first loss against Jake Southern thanks to a hand full of Maniacs tights and a foot on the rope which the referee was oblivious to. Later in the evening Akiramaniac challenged Sid the Vindicator for the EFW TV title in a Cage Match. Akiramaniac destroyed Sid, silenced the crowd and took the TV title with a unbelievable Suicide Side A-Plex from almost the top of the cage. Sid was badly hurt while Akiramaniac become the new EFW TV Champion!

EFW. Akiramaniac made a successful defence of his TV title against the ultra-talented Gua Nomme, Brute Hammer stormed ringside and KO'd his hated enemy Nomme with his hammer giving Akiramaniac and pinfall victory.

EFW. Akiramaniac challenged EFW Champion Hitman for his Heavyweight Title, a close but ultimately unsuccessful challenge from the Akiramaniac, Hitman hitting his finisher to defend his title.

WOW. WTO's Takeover Bid PPV from Fleet Center, Boston, MA. During the Hot Half Hour (dark matches) the Akiramaniac made his WOW debut against Fire. Early doors Maniac looking to have separated Fire's shoulder with a slingshot shoulder-breaker on the steel railing, from there it was all down hill for Fire, Maniac hitting the Skull Cruncher but preferring a Pain Killer Arm-lock submission in 9:30. Fire stretchered out at the hands of the Maniac!
14.04.97.
WOW Fight Night. Akiramaniac never in trouble in his match against Jumpin' Jack Flash, hitting various A- Plex's before hitting his 'Skull Cruncher' Backdrop-Driver for the victory in 4:16.
23.04.97.
UWO. Kobashi faced Ric Paradise, Iron Warrior & Savage Warrior in a 4 Man Elimination bout. Kobashi eliminated Iron Warrior to become the last man standing and gain a impressive victory over the promotions top athletes.
04.05.97.
WOW Bloody Sunday PPV from Tampa Sun Dome, Tampa, Florida. Akiramaniac facing former WOW Champion Steve Kalone in a 'Crown Jewel' (Tournament) Qualifier, truly impressive bout for the Maniac as he totally dominated Kalone before finishing him with the Skull Cruncher in only 5:44!

WOW Power Hour. Akiramaniac set to face of against Rage, although replaced at the last minute by El Torro. Torro probably wishing he hadn't stepped in as he was the forth WOW victim of the awesome Akiramaniac, the Skull Cruncher being the weapon of destruction again in this one. Time 11:24.
17.05.97.
WOW Slamfest Tapings. Akiramaniac took on the man known as Fire in a Strap Match, unfortunately Maniac knew his shoulder was still terribly injured from their Takeover Bid bout, Maniac using the injury, almost yanking Fire's arm out of it's socket with the strap. Maniac touching all corners without much argument from Fire in 15:25.

WOW Pour Hour. Akiramaniac took on Demon, the ghoul didn't really pose any sort of threat to Maniac. Skull Cruncher…..1..2..3! in 8:30.
