Royal Rumble Results
WOW!!!
What an event, this was truely an awesome PPV. The matches were generally great, and the Rumble itself was fantastic. Over the years I have watched many Royal Rumble matches and events, and I am hard pressed to think of one this good. Anyways, enough of my thoughts, lets get on with the results........
Tag Team Title Match:
The Dudley Boyz vs Edge & Christian (Tag Team Champs)
I'm not a huge fan of either team and so I wasn't really bothered too much about this match, but it turned out to be a fairly good, and entertaining, match. As the match started Edge and Christian were reluctant to get into the ring and so the Dudleys took it to them outside the ring. The match then wen back and forth with each time having the momentum. Edge and Christian then started to dominate on D-Von as Buh Buh was left helpess outside the ring. The crowd were trying to give D-Von the momentum with the ever popular chant of "WE WANT TABLES!!". D-Von then catapulted Edge into Christian with all 3 men going down. D-Von got the tag to Buh Buh, but the referee missed it as Edge and Christian both went for chairs. D-Von ducked a Con-Chair-To and hit a double clothelsine on both Edge and Christian. Buh Buh was tagged in and cleared house, as he called for the WASSUP!! headbutt, which was landed on Edge. Buh Buh then called for the tables, but D-Von was stopped by Christian. Edge went to hit Buh Buh with the tag titles but missed, and then the 3D was attempted on Christian. This was stopped as Edge speared Buh Buh. Close pin fall on buh Buh then. Edge and Christian then attempted to hit a WASSUP!! headbutt on Buh Buh, but were halted by D-Von, who pushed Edge of the turnbuckle and into the ring. Christian was thrown out of the ring and the Dudleys hit the 3D on Edge to give D-Von the pin fall and the Dudleys the Tag Team titles.

Intercontinental Title Ladder Match:
Chris Jericho vs Chris Benoit (Champion)
Jericho came down first. Benoit came down as Jericho looked on. The match up got started straight away and Y2J took the early advantage with a series of kicks and chops. Benoit then tried to further injure Jericho's damaged shoulder by applying the Crippler Crossface, which Y2J tried to reverse into the Walls of Jericho. the match then went back and forth for a while, until Jericho missed with a springboard dropkick. Benoit then went after the ladder but was attacked by Jericho, who was rammed into the ringpost as Benoit took the ladder towards the ring. Jericho was then rammed in to the steel steps as Benoit set up the ladder in the centre of the ring. Jericho then reached Benoit and hoisted him onto his shoulders and dropped him backwards. Jericho then charged Benoit with the ladder and repeated this again, before setting up the ladder on the turnbuckle. Jericho went to throw Benoit into the ladder but it was reversed as Y2J went smashing into the ladder and to the outside. Benoit attempted a suicide dive through the ropes but Jericho smashed him on the head in mid-air with a steel chair. This has got to be one of the loudest chair shots that I have ever heard. Jericho set up the ladder so that it would fall on top of Benoit with Y2J on it. Benoit moved as Jericho flew into the guard rails. Benoit then gave Jericho several chair shots before setting the ladder up in the corner, like Jericho before had. Jericho was tossed into the ladder by Benoit and Benoit then went for the same only for Y2J to reverse it and send Benoit into the ladder. Jericho then placed Benoit on to the top of the ladder and pushed the ladder back so that it crushed Benoit against the mat. Benoit then dropkicked the ladder into the face of Jericho. Benoit then hit a high angle backdrop on Jericho. Benoit was again thrown into the ladder by Jericho before Jericho hit Benoit with the ladder in almost an uppercut way. Jericho then hit a dropkick on the ladder to Benoit's face. Jericho set up the ladder and began to climb before Benoit started battling back. Benoit then hit a back suplex over the top rope to put Y2J to the outside. Benoit then scaled the ladder as Jericho climbed it also. Jericho fought back and somehow managed to apply a modified version of the Walls of Jericho on the top of the ladder onto Benoit. A truely amazing site. Jericho was then pushed off the ladder by Benoit , Benoit was then attacked with the ladder by Jericho. Jericho climbed the ladder yet again only to be pulled off and the Crippler Crossface was applied by Benoit. The match had a no tap out stipulation as it was a ladder match and so the match went on. Benoit released the hold and threw Jericho to the ring post. Benoit was flung into the ladder and Jericho squashed Benoit into the corner by using the ladder. Both men then climbed the ladder and Jericho was pushed off, Benoit went for the diving headbutt off the top of the ladder. Benoit missed and Jericho climbed the ladder only to be pushed to the outside by Benoit. Benoit started climbing the ladder but Jericho gave him several chair shots before Benoit was pushed outside after landing on the top rope. Jericho climbed the ladder and reached for the title. Jericho reached out took the title and fell off the ladder.

Women's Title Match:
Chyna vs Ivory (Champion)
The match started up and Chyna took it straight to Ivory, throwing her all over the arena. The fight then entered the audience, again Chyna dominated. The match eventually re-entered the ring and as Steven Richards tried to interfere Chyna gave him a clothesline and threw him to the outside. Chyna then attempted a handspring attack to Ivory in the corner. Chyna hit it but banged the back of her neck, before crashing to the mat. Chyna lay there motionless as Ivory got the cover and retained her title. The King entered the ring to check on Chyna as the referee called for the medical team. The medics came out along with Billy Gunn and Sgt Slaughter. There was a funny moment as there was about 5 people trying to start a Sgt Slaughter chant. Chyna was taken away on a stretcher whilst paralysed and in a neck brace. Jerry Lawler then announced that Chyna couldn't speak or move.

WWF Heavyweight Title Match:
Triple H vs Kurt Angle
What the hell is that?? That was my response to Triple H's new music. This has surely got to be one of the worst pieces of entrance music that I have ever heard. His old music is so much better, jeez. Hunter came down and did his usual entrance and poses. The guy is huge and surely must be one of the greatest athletes in wrestling. Angle made his way down accompanied by Trish. The match started with a lock up, which The Game won. Angle's technical prowess then showed as he took it to Hunter. Triple H was then clotheslined over the top and took his time to get back in the ring as a chant of ANGLE SUCKS!! broke out. Kurt kept control for a while applying lots of different technical holds, such as armbars and monkey flips. Angle then gave several suplexes to The Game before getting a near fall. Hunter then rested outside as Angle took it to him until Hunter threw Angle to the guard rails. Angle was then smashed into the steel steps face first. Angle delivered a few right hands before a drop toe hold by Hunter, followed by a leg grapevine. Angle then started to favour his left leg as Hunter went to work on it with dragon screws and the like. Angle then hit an enziguri on Triple H but The Game once again took it to Angle. Angle then sent Triple H to the outside after reversing an Irish whip. Angle again took control and smashed Triple H into the ring post. Angle then missed a charge into the corner as Triple H once again went to work on Angle's left leg and gave Angle a chair shot to his knee. Hunter rolled Angle back inside and further started to dominate Angle's knee. Angle bagan to fight back and then got a face buster for his trouble. Hunter, again in charge, got several near falls. The Game then applied a figure 4 on Angle in the centre of the ring. Trish then interfered and Stephanie and Trish started a huge cat fight. Vince then came out and split it up and took both women to the back. Meanwhile, Hunter had let go of the hold and was watching the fight between Trish and Steph. Angle then tried an inside cradle on The Game but only got a 2 count. Angle then hit a DDT, again for a 2 count. Angle started to take control of the match, and gave Hunter several forms of suplex. Hunter then hit a Razor's Edge from nowhere onto Angle, Hunter then got 3 2 counts in a row on Angle. Hunter then went for the Pedigree but Angle fought his way out of it and Angle hit a moonsault. He didn't land the move perfectly and took out his own knee in the process. Hunter then went to hit Angle on the outside, but hit referee Earl Hebner by mistake. Angle then hit a huge armdrag takedown of the turnbuckle and went for the cover as Habner was still down. Angle went and got Hebner but Angle was again thrown into the steel steps by Hinter. Angle hit Hebner on the way and put him out again. Triple H went to hit Angle with the title belt but Angle hit a belly-to-belly suplex. Angle went to hit Hunter with the title but received a Pedigree for his trouble. Hebner was still down and Hunter went to check on him. Stone Cold then came down and starting beating on Hunter, hittin ghim with the tile and then delivering a Stone Cold Stunner on The Game. Triple H had been busted open and Austin rolled Hebner back into the ring. Angle covered Triple H and Hebner gave a very slow 3 count. Angle left with the title as an irate Triple H got up and went looking for Austin.

A very entertaining Rumble this one. It was pretty obvious who was going to win, but it was a good match still. For me the superstars that stood out were Bradshaw, The Undertaker, The One Billy Gunn, The Rock, and of course Kane. I don't know why Bradshaw stood out he just seem to look really impressive to me. The One Billy Gunn also impressed, although it was a bit stupid to have Austin get straight back up after receiving a Fameasser. The Rock stood out because he was in the match for a long time and did get one huge chokeslam through a table. The Undertaker also impressed as he was kicking ass big time, along with Kane. That brings me to the big red machine. Kane really stood out more than anyone. I think he was in the match for about 1 hour, which is no mean feat. It was obvious that he wouldn't win, but hopefully WWF officials saw his performance and give him a big push, which he has been long overdue.
