8.29.00- OGDEN AGREES TO A SEVEN-YEAR 48.78 MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT EXTENSION...
The long-awaited contract extension for Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden is finally a reality. While an announcement is not expected until Wednesday, team officials and Ogden confirmed the deal has been agreed upon and will be signed this week.
The six-year extension is worth 44.69 million in "new money" and includes a signing bonus of $16 million. Ogden is scheduled to earn $4.081 million this year in base salary and so the extension, in essence, creates a seven-year contract worth $48.78.
Ravens owner Art Modell told The Baltimore Sun that Ogden, 26, was rewarded for his "performance and productivity." Modell, during a spring minicamp, had vowed to Ogden that the Ravens would retain him and make him the league's highest paid offensive lineman.

Steelers head coach Bill Cowher said Kent Graham would open the 2000 season as the teams starting quarterback.
Cowher made the announcement this morning as the Steelers begin preparation for their season-opener versus Baltimore this Sunday.
In the preseason, Graham completed 54.4 percent of his passes (31-of-51) for 335 yards with three TDs and an interception. He compiled an 82.1 passer rating.

The Baltimore ravens reduce their roaster to 54 by making the following adjustments: Waived - Injury settlement: TE Greg Delong,WR Macus Nash andC Rod Payne. Waived: DT Martin Chase and DT Marques Douglas. Dt Tony siragusa does not count against the NFL mandated 53-player roasrer at this time. He's like to be activated on Friday Sept.1, and the Ravens will have to release another player at that time.
