The Hitmen took a big overhand right with the departure of Stephen Peat, leaving only Robin Gomez as Calgary's lone experienced scrapper. Gomez is very game and throws every punch like it's going to be his last, however he doesn't score many points in the intimidation department. Look for guys like Jared Carli, Shaun Norrie and Toni Bader to be more active in the pugilistic end of things this year if the Hitmen skill guys are going to survive. Look for the Hitmen to add some more "meat" to the line up this year.

Shaun Norrie
Fwd...6'2"...188lbs...09/15/82
Physical winger who doesn't mind dropping the gloves to defend himself or teammates, however he is isn't as prolific when the gloves come off as his older brother Jason was, but he continues to improve..

Johnny Boychuk
D...6'2"...205lbs...01/19/84
Quite possibly and  most likely the toughest sixteen year old in the league this year. Boychuk came in with a reputation of being tough and has played with belligerence so far, having broken the nose of Pat Brandreth of the Blazers in an early season fight. This guy has tough guy bloodlines as his older brother David is the resident goon in Spokane and Johhny appears destined to follow in his footsteps.

Robin Gomez
LW...6'2"...212lbs...10/15/81
See "The Mayon Event", central division for more on Wonder Boy. It'll probably be his home for the rest of his career.

Brandon Segal
Fwd...6'2"...201lbs...07/12/83
Sophomore winger was feisty as a sixteen year old and continues to play the same physical game, but he's also scoring some points so his fighting stats may take a bit of a hit this season. Good size and fast hands allow Brandon to do all right when the mitts come off.

Chad Wolkowski
Fwd...6'2"...185lbs...05/13/83
Rookie has shown signs of being a physical player who is not afraid to droop the gloves. It's too early to tell if he going to be a consistent force but he's shown a lot of grit so far.

Jared Carli
D...6'2"...215lbs...02/17/82
A slimmed down Carli plays a feisty, robust game and with that comes fights which he doesn't back down from. Early season injury has curtailed his playing but I'm sure as the seaon rolls along we should see more from Jared.

The Hitmen are again in position to make a run at the whole enchilada.  They have a well balanced team and some toughness to back it up, however, it looks like they're going to need every ounce of it this year to come out the Central.  Robin Gomez has stepped to the forefront this year and become the Hitmen's enforcer.  He's done a good job for them, taking on anyone and everyone so far this season.  With his "all or nuthin'" style he's faired quite well.  His numbers have dropped a little over the last part of November and the first half of December but others have stepped to the front and helped out.  Carli, Segal, Egener, Bader, Norrie have all lent a helping hand and newcomer Wes Rypien seems intent on challenging Robin for the number one enforcer job on the Hitmen roster.  All in all the Hitmen have pretty well rounded group of tough guys all who are capable of playing some hockey as well. Don't look for the Hitmen to fight their way out of the Central, they've got far too much talent for that, but if they're called upon to do it they're more than adequatley equipped.
