The Hurricanes will always play it physical with Maxwell behind the bench, however with the departure of Eric Godard and no proven heavyweight to take his place, they will need someone to step up. It looks like Andrew Jungwirth may just be the guy after a very good showing in a draw against Robin Gomez of the Hitmen that was apparently a slugfest. He's an eighteen year old who likes to throw sledgehammers so maybe Maxie has his guy. Derek Parker is another guy who drops the gloves on a regular basis, however last season as a rookie he looked more like a red cross donor than a "dub" heavyweight, but with a years experience under his belt, he should fair much better this season. Add the likes of Phil Cole, Thomas Scantlebury and Ryan Jorde to the mix and you've got a team that is good to go. Look for rookie Matt Fetzner to mix it up as well. Maxwell is likely happy with his toughness, however Red Deer and Medicine Hat have some big boys in their line ups as well and Maxie isn't known for going to war with peashooters.

Scott Borders
LW...6'2"...204lbs...08/31/81
A good fighter who goes when challenged. Above average size allows him to go with some of the big boys , but is better off sticking in the middleweight division.

Phil "Ol' king" Cole
D...6'4"...097lbs...09/06/82
Big kid at 6'4" and he likes to drop the gloves. Shows up game in, game out and won't back down from anyone. Not a great scrapper but in a physical game is a great guy to have on your team when the fights begin.

Ryley "Wily" Layden
C...6'0"...188lbs...05/29/82
The newcomer from Tri-Cities will fight just about anybody, but is a much better middleweight than heavyweight as he has only average size. He won't back down from anybody and being a very versatile player who can play both forward and defence, Maxwell may well ask him to play a lot thus affecting his fight numbers.

Thomas "The Archbishop of" Scantlebury
D...6'2"...205lbs...01/06/80
Big tough stalwart D-man, plays a very physical game and as captain of the 'canes is probably going to be asked to spend most of his time on the ice rather than in the penalty box.  Is more than willing to step up to the plate if the need arises.  His physical play and lack of toughness in the central this year has enabled Thomas to find a spot in out "Mayon Event", central division.

Mark "Fast fists" Forth
D...6'1"...185lbs...09/28/81
"Fast fists"  Forth should get ice time and a lot of opportunity on Maxwell's hockey club to show his fighting prowess. Throws 'em fast and furious, while not taking a backward step from anyone. Not a big guy, but he can "go".

Matt Fetzner
D...6'3"...203lbs...04/18/84
Kid was very feisty in minor hockey and kind of had a policeman's mentality when he played for the Notre Dame Hounds bantam team and it appears he'll play with the same agression in the dub. Look for him to learn the league at first but he should be a force to reckon with in the not too distant future.

Andrew "Jungle Boy" Jungwirth
D...6'2"...215lbs...02/19/82
See "The Mayon Event" central for more info on Andrew.

Derek "I wanna be Scott"  Parker
LW...6'1"...197lbs...07/27/83
Short on talent but tough as nails, this kid fears nothing.  He's made a name for himself in the league however he's got some big blemishes on it.  He needs to pick his spots and control his temper a little better otherwise his days in the dub may be numbered.

After approx. 40 games

The Hurricanes have gone the entire year with a toughness by committee ethic and it has worked out just fine because Maxwell expects a gritty, tough effort from the top to bottom of his line up.  A host of guys such as Phil Cole, Andrew Jungwirth, Scott Borders, Derek Parker and rookie Matt Fetzner all are capable of dropping the gloves and being nasty while doing it, leaving the Hurricanes as a team that has as much grit from top to bottom as any other in the central division.  Unfortunately the Hurricanes don't look like they're going too far in this tough central division even with the tough crew they have, but they are  a team that could spoil your season or your next meal unless you were planning on soup.
