The Ice may have lost Graham Belak, but overall toughness should not be a concern for the Ice with three 20 year old defencemen in Arsene, Chubb and Lassu who are willing to go. Chubb and Lassu are much better fighters than Arsene but you'd better know where Dean is when your on the "Ice". Dion Lassu will be needed on the ice a lot more this season so his activity may drop, but make no mistake, this guy can go with any of the heavyweights. Chubb is another guy who can dance with most of the big guys. The supporting cast is led by the very willing and capable Cole Fischer, Brad Tutschek, Colin Sinclair and two young guys who will likely be throwing their hats in the ring at some point in Andy Thompson and Tyler Dyck. Not really any need for the Ice to get much tougher, however a guy who could take a couple shifts a period and take away some of the pressure on Chubb and Lassu to fight regularly wouldn't be a bad idea.

Jason Jaffray
LW...6'1"...197lbs...06/30/81
More of a team toughness type guy as he doesn't go looking for trouble, however he is around for his teammates when the need arises and he can handle himself quite admirably with the middleweights.

Colin Sinclair
RW...6'0"...200lbs...02/17/82
Similar to Jaffray except he fights more often and can really throw 'em. Won't let teammates get pushed around and won't take any crap himself either.

Mike "Wild Man" Lee
RW...6'0"...215lbs...05/22/80
Mike lived in our top ten rankings when he was an American and there's no reason to believe he will be anywhere else as a member of the Ice . For more info on him see "The Mayon event", west division.

Eric "Roller hockey" Bowen
RW...6'2"...225lbs...10/30/81
Just what the Ice were looking for, a legitimate enforcer. A resident of "The Mayon event" west division now for the last season and a half. If you want to read more about Eric that's where you'll find it.

Cole Fischer
D...6'1"...190lbs...12/23/81
Great guy to have on your team because he's like the good guy in old westerns....He won't let anyone take advantage of his friends. This guy can be a little hot headed but is a solid scrapper who throws 'em fast and furious. Exciting fighter to watch with his all or nothing style

Brett Dececco
RW...5'11"...190lbs...05/20/80
Solid middleweight who can really throw the jams. Will likely be asked to score some goals so his fight numbers will be down, but this guy's as pesky as a chihuahua at grandmas house. If you drop the gloves with Brett you better have a good chin or throw 'em faster than he does.

Steven Makway
D...6'5"...210lbs...04/26/83
Big rookie will get tested on his size alone at 6'5" guys don't get to go too long before they test 'em for jam. With his size will have reach advantage over most and has already tested the waters and has done okay when the gloves came off.

Andy Thompson
D...6'3"...205lbs...01/05/84
If there's a rookie who will give Johnny a run for his money as the toughest sixteen year old in the league this season, it's likely Andy. The kid is big, mean as a pit bull on acid and plain loves to fight. Plays like he's  about as sharp as a butter knife in a psychiatric hospital, but that type of attitude never hurts a future tough guy,.

The Ice started wheeling and dealing as soon as the first puck was dropped this year and people including myself were questioning thier toughness.  However, even after Chris Chubb and Dion Lassu were gone they were still a pretty tough group.  Seventeen yr old Tyler Dyck seemed like he wanted the take on the enforcer role and did a pretty good job of it.  With Dyck leaving for Tri-City it leaves a supporting cast of Dean Arsene, Pat Iannone, Cole Fischer, Jason Jaffray and Steve Makway the Ice looked like a team that may just be able to handle matters without a bona-fide heavyweight, but it wasn't to be.  A trade, bringing Eric Bowen to the Ice for future considerations was the first step but not the last.  After having secured a true heavy in Bowen they then went and traded Tyler Dyck to the Ams for 20yr old tough guy, Mike Lee.  Although Lee doesn't have the best resume in the league, with a reputation of picking on smaller guys and occasionally jumping them from behind he does posses one of the hardest punches in the league and brings some leadership qualities to the Ice, which any team with an idea of making a run at it requires.  The Ice are in tough this year and a trip to the M-Cup this year will mean beating out Calgary and Red Deer.  I don't know if they can BEAT THEM OUT, but with the weapons they have they can sure as hell BEAT THEM UP!
