Jim "aka Hansen" Vandermeer

Defence
Height...6'1"
Weight...208lbs
Birthdate...02/21/80

A tough guy who finds it hard to get opponents was least seen fighting a couple young guys as the older set are aware of his toughness I guess. Two fights, one with Desautels and another with Barr saw Vandermeer twice as  busy as he's been in the past two months, however as alluded to earlier it's due mostly to guys realizing he's often better to leave alone than to wake up. This guy is as mean as a junk yard dog and will hurt guys.

Brett "My name's as long as my arms" Schefflemaier

Defence
Height...6'6"
Weight...220lbs
Birthdate...03/31/81

Long armed tough guy had three fights last month with Ponte, McNeill and Smith on his dance card. All three guys are legitimate tough guys and it keeps Schef in the top two. This division that most thought was going to be an animal show this year has been quite calm, but we hope the heat will get turned up over the coming month or so of the season and give a solid shot at getting to number one. A fight with Vandermeer would be a great way to get there.

Jeff "Not Brown, not Jones, it's" Smith

LW
Height...6'6"
Weight...212lbs
Birthdate...01/02/81

Five scraps the past month, one each with Kress, Jorde, Egener, Scheff and Ponte saw Smith stay busy and stay in the top three, although Vandermeer at number one caused him to drop a spot to three. Big, rangy winger has taken on the role in Red Deer and done quite well and with the Reb's looking at going all the way, Smith could well be an integral part of the team, keeping heat off the skill guys.

Robin "Wonder Boy" Gomez

Centre
Height...6'1"
Weight...210lbs
Birthdate...10/15/81

Only four fights in January sees Robin drop a spot to number four. One each with Bowen and Olynick (MH) and two with Jorde. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Robin and as the season winds down and teams are battling for playoff spots if the going gets tough I'm sure Robin will get going.

Eric "Roller hockey" Bowen

RW
Height...6'2"
Weight...225lbs
Birthdate...10/30/81

Traded by Portland to the toughness challenged Ice, Bowen should be well liked by both Kooteany fans and players alike. Big guy isn't the sturdiest scrapper in the league but isn't afraid to stand back and chuck 'em either. Two fights, one each with Gomez and McNeill were less than expected but apparently big Eric picked up a broken nose in one of the fights and has missed a few games. Upon his return the oppositioin can expected a much more belligerent team from the Kootenay's.

Brad "The sloth" Voth"

RW
Height...6'6"
Weight...227lbs
Birtdate...02/25/80

Taking full advantage of his twenty year old season when in the past he's been seen as somewhat of an underachiever, he had four fights, two with arch enemy Derek Parker and one each with Jorde and Francon. It's been a pleasure to see the big guy pick up the pace this season and he's had a tough job with all the young undersized Tiger forwards to protect.

Devon "Frankly Scarlet" Francon

LW
Height...6'3"
Weight...218lbs
Birthdate...02/14/80

Big guy has finally decided to drop the gloves and picked up four fighting majors last month. Fights included McNeill, Hiebert, Davis and Voth. Many are surprised Devon stayed with the Reb's after the trade deadline, but maybe he's figured out that aggression needs to be a part of his game to help out his team and he's going to start providing it. Devon has all the tools to be effective in the tough guy role, he just needs to be more consistent.

Kyle "The Halloween fairy" Wanvig

RW
Height...6'2"
Weight...200lbs
Birthdate...01/29/81

Two fights for the Reb's power forward against Exelby and Boychuk keep him on average for his totals on the year. The Reb's don't want this guy spending too much time in the box I'm sure, but to be an effective power forward in this league, getting your nose dirty on occasion needs to be part of your game. Kyle will likely be dropping them more often as teams try and send a message before the playoffs begin.

Ryan "The madman from The Hat" Olynyk

Defence
Height...6'0"
Weight...202lbs
Birthdate...08/2//82

Madman from Med Hat has quite a few enemies in the style of Jones-Parry, however seems to be more willing to drop the gloves. Not one to doff the gear and go toe to toe, the kid shows up as his nine fights will attest and deserves credit for that. Fights with McAslan, Gomez, Rupprecht, Robinson, Parker, Johnson, Ponte, Thompson and Green round out a pretty damn full dance card. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of this guy in the years to come or maybe not, unless you keep his obituary.

Mike "On the edge" Egener

Defence
Height...6'1"
Weight...180lbs
Birthdate...07/26/84

Rookie with the Hitmen has started to get his feet wet in the fight game and enters the top ten for the first time with three fights including Dyck, Kanigan and Smith. This guy along with teammate Johhny Boychuk form a pretty tough, young defence for the Hit's in the years to come
