Robin "Wonder Boy" Gomez
Centre
|
Robin takes the top spot on his willingness to go night after night.
Ten fights and most with very tough guys, including Brett Schefflemaier,
Chris Chubb, Brad Voth, Grant McNeil twice, Jordan Clarke, Jon Mirasty,
Derek Halldorson and Garnet Exelby made it an easy choice. Gomez is an
exciting fighter who stands back and throws bombs, however the incoming
often hit their target and Gomez sometimes takes more than he gives.....but
he always shows up. It would be nice to see Robin fight smarter however
before someone turns out his lights.

Jim "aka Hansen" Vandermeer
Defence
|
How can I rank a guy with no fights number two? Simple, ask the guys
who won't go near him or find it extremely difficult to drop the gloves
when he sends an invitation to the party. Vandy is flat out scary and people
don't bother him, so his fight totals will suffer, but make no mistake,
this guy is one of the toughest guys in the entire league and plays like
a malnourished pit bull.

Brett "My name's as long as my arms" Schefflemaier
Defence
|
Only two fights for a guy who is scary tough, but is trying to play
more hockey this year than bouncing knuckles off opponents foreheads. He's
still a guy other teams wouldn't mind having. Which brings to mind his
defence partner from last year and current Kamloops Blazer Paul Elliott
being overheard to say, "it was nice playing with Scheff because I could
start stuff and big Scheff would always be there to finish it" and it was
said with much admiration for Scheffs willingness to defend his mates.
Big guy with a long reach, it would be nice to see him go more often because
he is another who likes to stand back and throw 'em.

Brad "The sloth" Voth"
RW
|
I don't mind saying, "this guy isn't one of my favourites", however
in a division with not many active scrappers, Brad fought five times which
puts him up there with the division leaders. Big guy isn't the best fighter
but he's more of it than in the past and it looks good on him. His dance
card included Robin Gomez, Phil Cole and Dean Serdachny among others

Derek "I wanna be Scott" Parker
LW
|
Just to show how slow the division is, Derek is currently suspended
but has still fought five times and missed most of the month of November
(if you can call suckering Travis Moen then putting his nose somewhere
around his left ear a fight). Still, two fights with Boogaard amongst the
five keeps Derek holding his own in a slow division as mentioned earlier.
Derek needs to become a smarter player and not do so many stupid moves
if he hopes to stay in the league, but if he does, watch out because this
guy plays with a continent sized chip on his shoulder and could be effective
if he picked his spots and fought when the other guy was aware a fight
was on.

Jeff "Not Brown, not Jones, it's" Smith
LW
|
Two fights with a couple of rather tough dudes in Eric Bowen and Derek
Boogaard puts Jeff in sixth spot in the fight challenged central division.
Big guy is playing on a huge Red Deer team that not many other clubs want
to rumble with so it will likely affect his and all the other Rebels fight
totals.

Andrew "Jungle Boy" Jungwirth
Defence
|
Only one fight with Jon Mirasty and the guy is ranked seventh, I know,
I know, it's just that my car is letting in exhaust fumes. This guy can
fight but his limited ice time affects his ability to get into fights,
however he is tough and hopefully he proves me right with this ranking
in December.

Ryan "Flatlander" Olynyk
Defence
|
Rookie from midget hockey has adapted well to the WHL and picked up
four fights in the month of November, making him a standout in the central.
Fights included Jon Mirasty, Jon Kress and Jared Carli, with Mirasty being
a tough hombre. Looks like this guy could be heard from in the months to
come.

"Not Just any" Tyler Dyck "or Harry"
Centre
|
Big Kootenay winger had four fights and enters the top ten for the first
time. Grant McNeil, Garth Murray and Doug Lynch show up on his dance card,
with McNeil and Murray being good fighters. Tyler's a big kid who will
need to use his size on a toughness challenged Kooteany team. Guys like
Cole Fischer aren't scrapping much and with Lassu now playing in Seattle,
it may be a kid like Dyck who has to step up and take the job as quality
tough guys are at a premium in the league this year.

Thomas "The Archbishop of" Scantlebury
Defence
|
One fight with Ross Lupaschuk, but hell, it wouldn't be a top ten without a number ten, now would it? Thanks a lot to the central division for making this a bitch of a top ten to make up, with so many guys wearing dresses the past month, but Thomas is a tough guy, can chuck 'em and as captain of the 'Canes is probably being asked to stay on the ice more this season.
