David "Not Goliath" Kaczowka
LW
|
Kazcowka played his usual calm quiet style in November, only accumulating
twelve fighting majors. This guy is as tough as a hash smokers "hot knives"
and busier than a Hong Kong hooker when the navy comes to town. This guy
throws more bombs than the PLO and is a helluva lot more accurate. His
dance card included the likes of Barrett Jackman, Eric Bowen, Darren McLachlan,
B.J. Fehr and Deryk Engeland among others. Consensus...."Number one by
a mile".

Randy "You lookin' at me?" Ponte
LW
|
Took off his skirt and decided to lead instead of follow on the dance
floor. Randy picked up the pace after a slow start, fighting seven
times. Randy's card included Keegan McAvoy, Darren McLachlan, Sean
O'Connor twice, Shawn Limpright and two others. The Brandon fire hydrant
finally looks ready to challenge for the title, but Kazcowka will be tough
to overtake unless he breaks a hand or has an identity crisis.

Matt "I ain't no day at the beach" Sommerfeld
LW
|
Matt drops from the two spot because Ponte picked up the pace. However,
Sommerfeld is amazing because he probably only got five shifts all month,
so his fight per shift ratio is excellent considering he had five fights.
Matt fought Grant McNeill, Jon Mirasty, Darren McLachlan, Deryk Engelland
and Cole Byers, all tough characters. Matt has his work cut out to move
back up if Ponte and Kaz keep it up.

Grant "The Ant" McNeill
Defence
|
Big defenceman from P.A. had eight fights and moves from ten to the
four spot. A couple of slugfests with Robin Gomez of Calgary, the number
one heavyweight in the central division make this rather nasty seventeen
year old someone to look for in the years to come, as well as this year.
Big guy hits hard and throws with reckless abandon, not afraid to take
a shot to give one. Other big names on his dance card included Matt Sommerfeld,
Colton Orr, Tyler Dyck and Ken Davis, all guys who are capable of looking
after themselves.

Jon "Nasty" Mirasty
LW
|
The second of four Raiders in the top ten, too bad the team can't win
an intersquad game. Little guy with thundering fists is not always going
to win but he gives it his best shot every time as he gives up considerable
weight and height advantages to everyone he fights. Apparently trained
in boxing, former Stars scout and current Oiler scout Stu McGregor was
impressed with the kid's jam and fighting ability considering he needs
a step ladder to get over the boards. He doesn't back down from anybody,
as his dance card will attest too.....Sommerfeld, Jungwirth, Mike Lee,
Gomez, Boogey and assorted others.

Deryk "I say old chap" Engelland
Defence
|
Unranked in the first two rankings of the year Deryk enters this month
in the six spot on his five fight month and quality of opposition. Deryk
fought Kaz twice, Jeff Coulter and Matt Sommerfeld. Pretty solid
opposition for the Warrior defenceman considering Kaz has been hurting
people this year and Sommerfeld no slouch.

Sean "4 leaf clover" O'Connor
RW
|
Big winger falls a spot to seven as newcomer Engelland had an impressive
month. Sean fought Ponte twice, Dean Serdachny and Darcy Robinson. Sean
needs to play a more abrasive game to be effective as he seems to score
more when he's fighting a lot. Look for O'Connor to pick up the pace in
the next while as trade rumours swirl as teams looking for size and scoring
on the wing inquire about his availability.

Kyle "Loose cannon" Bruce
RW
|
This seventeen year old enters the top ten after another impressive
month. Five fights and a willingness to show up night after night make
it look like a toughness challenged Kamloops Blazers team may have paid
a big price to rent goaltender Grant McCune for a year. Not a big guy and
doesn't fight a lot of the name heavyweights but he deserves recognition
for his gameness.

Jordan "We finally got a picture" Clarke
Defence
|
Tough winger had four fights in November and drops a spot as two newcomers
have been active and entered the top ten ahead of him. Jordan's dance card
contains Colton Orr, Robin Gomez, Jeff Feniak and Jeff Coulter, some pretty
tough characters and I may be slighting him a bit by ranking him ninth,
but we'll see what happens next month.

Garth "Please don't call me Anne" Murray
Centre
|
A good month for Garth as he took on five opponents and picked up the pace after a slow start to the season. Gritty winger needs to play aggressive and bang on the walls to help out his linemates. Garth needs to continue the pace in order for the Pats to be more than a mere participant in the Memorial Cup as his grit and hard work can create opportunities for his more skilled teammates. He took time do dance with Sean Thompson, Darcy Robinson, Chris Barr, Tyler Dyck and 230lb Sean Curry of the Americans.
