David Kaczowka "Not Goliath" Kaczowka...LW...6'2"...220lbs...07/05/81
David is the runaway number one as he's fought twelve times in the
month of October and also scrapped a whose who of tough guys from around
the league. One of my personal favourites as this guy lives by the motto
"last man standing". David rares back and fires the rights like Nolan Ryan
threw fastballs and he doesn't tuck his chin, leaving it open to be smacked
but the runny thing is, his chin doesn't get smacked too often. This guy
is going to be hard to take the belt from in the east.
Matt "I ain't no day at the beach" Sommerfeld...LW...6'2"...202lbs...04/26/82
I have a feeling that Matt will try and give Kaz a run for the title
as they will see an awful lot of each other during the year. Matt
is a brawler in contrast to the bomb throwing of Kaz, however Matt has
some power and one needs to be careful; if he starts to land bombs on your
melon it could well be "boom, boom, out go the lights". As long as he stays
in the division, Matt will be a force to reckon with.
Randy "You lookin' at me?" Ponte...LW...5'11"...202lbs...03/27/81
Hard to put a heart and soul guy like Ponte at number three but he's
off to another slow start this year. Randy is one of the more skilled heavyweights,
however he can't forget what got him in the league and needs to return
to his robust style of play. Look out for "You looking at me Ponte?" to
break out soon and make his presence felt as this guy can and will go the
distance with anyone.
Colton "Don't call me Bobby" Orr...RW...6'2"...210lbs...03/03/82
Eighteen year old sophomore Orr has eight fights in the month of
October and I like the jam this kid shows. Not afraid to stand back and
chuck 'em, Colton is the reason a guy like Sommerfeld could be available
in Swift. This guy will be heard from over the year and in the future.
One of the Fighting Major's favourites.
Jon "Nasty" Mirasty...LW...5'9"...188lbs...04/06/82
Reputed to be a boxer of some note, Mirasty is short in stature but
packs some lightning in his fists. He's won some and lost some, but always
shows up ready to go. In the long run Mirasty's size may catch up with
him as some of the heavyweights have considerable size and weight advantages
on him, however, remember a guy named Rocky Thompson who though short in
stature, pounded out more than one or two decisions in this league not
long ago. I'm not suggesting Mirasty is in that class, however this kid
can throw the jams.
Sean "4 leaf clover" O'Connor...RW...6'3"...203lbs...10/19/81
Very skilled and very tough, this guy will be much sought after come
deadline time if the Warriors are out of contention at the end of January.
Not only can this guy score goals, TKO's are also part of his repertoire.
Sean has the opportunity to move up the ladder but he is also needed on
the ice for his offence and may not "go" often enough to move up too much
more, however the guy doesn't turn down many dances so "never say never".
Bobby "Yaall come back now, ya hear" Chad-Mitchell...LW...6'1"...191lbs...04/18/82
Four fights so far in October and this guy plain likes to fight.
I don't see him moving up too much higher as he doesn't intimidate many
other guys and doesn't have a lot of power, but there is something
to be said for his willingness to show up and toss 'em. Needs to get over
his helmet throwing antics of last year to earn respect as well.
Jordan "We finally got a picture" Clarke...D...6'2"...204lbs...01/27/82
Off to a bit of a slow start this year with only three fights in
October so far, Jordan will fight anybody. Although he's another guy who
wins about as often as Rob Ray, he does always show up. Needs to work on
his balance to be more effective and learn to punch with more authority.
Brian "Stringbean" Sutherby...C...6'2"...175lbs...03/01/82
Two fights for Sutherby so far, but his effectiveness comes in his
ability to get others off their game and his willingness to back up his
agitating game. Brian isn't afraid to stand back and chuck 'em which I
like in a fighter versus the mauler type guys. Another guy who can also
play hockey so his fight totals are often short of some more regular scrappers.
Grant "The Ant" McNeill...D...6'2"...196lbs...06/08/83
Another guy from P.A. who seems to like the fight game. Grant had
four fights in October, but I can see him dropping the gloves on a more
frequent basis soon. Much like teammate Clarke, he doesn't look the greatest
when the leather gets tossed, but he doesn't back down either.
