If it weren't for Mike Lee the Americans would likely get a failing grade unless someone in camp has shown heavyweight ability. Lee hits like a sledge hammer when the gloves come off but as was stated last year, would like to see Mike square off with guys more often than trying to get the "jump" on them. This guy strikes fear into most opponents and will definitely be their leader this year when the fighting starts. Blake Evans can go, but he'll likely be asked to stay on the ice and out of the box this year. Jeff Feniak should also lend some assistance, but will need to be more consistent for such a big guy. Ryley Layden showed a willingness to scrap and did fare pretty well most of the time last year and will need to do more of the same this year. Big Brad Zanon played feisty last year most times and could be a pleasant surprise this year as could monstrous Andrew DeSousa, who at times was devastating and other times invisible. Other sophomores who will likely show more this year when the gloves drop are Andrew Davidson, Ben Kilgour and Jesse Schultz, although Kilgour and Schultz are on the smaller size. Depending upon DeSousa and Feniak this season, the Am's grade could raise significantly.

Brad "That's Zed not Zee" Zanon
D...6'0"...185lbs...04/29/83

Very tall, lanky defenceman showed some willingness to drop the gloves last season, although he didn't seem all that powerful so it might be a matter of filling out his tall frame. Long arms and his apparent mean streak could well make Brad a player to watch for in the heavyweight division soon.

Ryan "Yawannago" Jorde
D...6'3"...210lbs...03/23/82

Another tough American who spends most of his time in our "Mayon Event" west division.

Tyler Dyck
C...6'2"...205lbs...03/16/83
Tyler has good size and appears to be playing with more of a mean streak so far this season than his rookie season. A good acquisition by the Ams via the Ice at the trade deadline.

Andrew "Stringbean" Davidson
RW...6'1"...170lbs...03/09/83

Had an impressive scrap with veteran Blazer blueliner Micki Dupont last year, but didn't see much else out of him. He looks very strong and if fighting's his game and it appears it might be, Davidson is another young Am who could make some noise this season.

Andrew "Pass me" De Sousa
D...6'2"...210lbs...01/02/83

A Robin Regehr type defenceman who looks like he could be a very tough hombre with the years experience. Very Strong and good balance will likely allow Andrew to show just how tough he can be this season. Throws pretty fast for a big guy and his punching power should be lethal with his size...once he learns a little more about fighting.

Justin Lucyshyn
D...6'5"...220lbs...12/13/83
Came to the Ams in the trade for Feniak and Evans. One big D-man for another, maybe the Ams are looking for something a little more out of Justin than they got from Feniak. Only time will tell.

The revolving door to the TCA dressing room must need new hinges by now.  They've made more trades in the last three seasons than any other team in the league but don't seem to be making a whole lot of progress.  Even with the recent departures of Mike Lee and Jeff Feniak they still have one of the toughest teams on paper.  With Ryan Jorde entering the fold earlier this year and new comers, Justin Lucyshyn, Jon Mirasty and Tyler Dyck coming on board maybe the Ams can get something going. They have what it takes to wear teams down physically but obviously that isn't their game plan.  You almost have to think that with the players the Ams have had over the last two or three seeasons that they are looking to play a tough, physical game and win by wearing the opposition down, but for whatever reason, it isn't happening. If the Ams have any notion of securing a playoff spot this year, they are going to have to win on a more regular basis and with the limited talent they posses someone on the team is going to have to take the bull by the horns and steer them towards a more smash mouth style of hockey.
