Our beloved Scooter left us last
night to play at the Rainbow Bridge. He was a wonderful dog. He was
half Yellow Lab and half Golden Retriever. He was loyal and loving,
and smart. He was afraid of the water of all things and would run to
the far end of the house if we went to get the hose. I kept telling
him that he was suppose to like water, all his friends did. When he
and I were young, he use to sleep in my bed. When I got married, my
husband took his place in that spot. So, he moved to the floor on the
other side of me. He kept watch in our daughters room after she was
born, and we had to make him move to get her out of the crib. He was a
member of our family. He was mostly and inside dog, preferring to be
in the midst of things instead of being outside. As he came closer to
the end of his life, he developed advanced arthritis in his spine. He
no longer jumped to meet us after work. He had become an old man. Last
night he left us from a place he loved, our living room. Now, he is
happy and pain free.
