In
Heaven bright so far away
Where you and I will go some day
A dog sits by the pearly gates
Wagging his tail as he eagerly waits
An angel smiles and pats his head
"You're Tim Goodings friend,
Come in" she said
Swat excited as can be
But being careful not to pee
Barks a warm and friendly greeting
For he knows the one he'll soon be meeting
There was God upon his throne
He gave his little guest a bone
A cat purrs on his lap and a bird softly twitters
How great is the love of the Creator for his critters
After finishing his special treat
God said "there's someone I want you to meet"
With a yelp of joy and racing to and fro
Somehow he knew him - It was Oreo!
Well those two were ecstatic
and feeling just fine
Running and jumping and speaking Canine
Tripping over each other and acting plain silly
Until one of um spotted...yep, Tiger Lily
Me-yow! Bow-Wow! and off they ran
With her taunting them saying "catch me if you can!"
Quick and clever, she nearly drove them crazy
But
it was all in good fun - just ask Daisy
That precious rabbit did not fear
She wiggled her nose and tilted her ear
"I'm part of your family, yes it's true
Shirley was also my mommy too"
Cranberry and Blueberry, a couple of finches by name
Came over to the group and told them the same
To think animals have no souls is simply malarkey
"We're here and alive"
Chirped a sparrow called Sparky
Chasing a squirrel around and around
Came Suzy the L.A. dog who was saved from the pound
A familiar feline climbing up trees
Pretty Kitty was one very happy Siamese
Parakeets, canaries, hamsters and guppies
Pudgie earlier and Pudgie later, those cute Spaniel puppies
All came to welcome the new arrival
And share different stories about their earthly survival
One point that was paws down and perfectly clear
It was agreed life was a whole lot better up here
No mean tempered humans who spoke harsh and scowled
And no sign that said "NO PETS ALLOWED"
The Creator's critters could enter, even turtles and frogs
And it could truly be called a Disneyland for dogs
Swat looked around and his heart leaped with joy
He saw three little girls and one little boy
They all hugged and kissed him and petted his fur
And he was curious to find out just who they were
The eldest spoke first and said "you belonged to our brother
Forrest is our daddy and Shirley's our mother
You see Jesus called us home before we were born
And we expect to be seeing them one happy morn"
"Mean time said the youngest, we get to play!"
Swats ears perked up and thought "hey that's O.K.!
Fetching a stick and catching a ball
Swimming in the lake he liked best of all
He'd kick and splash and dilly daddle
And do an impressive doggie paddle
Yes eternity was good at Rainbow Bridge
Each dog house comes with a well stocked fridge
And what's even better that makes everyone delighted
Is the promise of pets and their people to be reunited
