Sarah was adopted from Iredell County Animal Shelter in June of 1999. Fortunately, her former owners had given her a rabies vaccination. Otherwise, this sweet animal would have been destroyed instead of being put up for adoption. She is the happiest creature on earth, never failing to enthusiastically meet me at the door. She lives for mealtime, and will happily eat anything that remotely resembles food. If I pick up her leash, she treats me as if I worked a miracle. She is the embodiment of joy, and I can't imagine my life without her.

What an adorable face!

I went through an eight week obedience course with Sarah. This had the effect of not only obedience but a closer bond between us. Obedience training makes your dog more confident, since she understands what the rules are. She learns to trust you. Your dog will be more accepted in public if she behaves, and you will be more willing to take her with you. She is less likely to attack a stranger. You won't have to restrain her just because a visitor comes to your house. In the unfortunate event that your dog gets lost, she is more likely to find a new family if she is well mannered. I believe obedience training, along with food, love, and proper veterinary care, is a responsibility of every dog owner.
