The Ranma and Akane Shrine

"Today I can't seem to meet your gaze... In my whole life, I've not felt this way before...
Can't say it aloud, let's just keep it quiet for now... Without words, your hand in mine's enough"

~from "Ranma Akane no Ballad"

Welcome to the Shrine of one of the most kawaii couples ever to exist, Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo. Though many, including the couple themselves, would dispute the fact that they are truly meant for each other, everyone else seems to know better - myself in particular (if I did not feel this way, obviously I would not have made this page, now would I? ^.^). I invite you to explore around and bask in the beauty of their unproclaimed (so far... ^.^) love.

The Heart's Reasons
The Heart's Reasons

Now, of course some people must be wondering why these two make such a wonderful couple, am I right? Well, these are just a few of the reasons (in no specific order).
  1. As Kasumi and Nabiki reasoned in the first episode, Akane hates boys. Well, Ranma's only half-boy, so they make the perfect couple! =)
  2. They are engaged, after all, did anyone forget?
  3. They are both very stubborn and proud, and isn't it just so adorable how they react the exact same way whenever someone hints that they might actually like each other? That's one sure sign of requited love, don't you think? =)
  4. Both of them are pretty lonely, no matter what they might say. Akane has been somewhat isolated ever since her mother's death, and Ranma has never really had any real friends since his father took him away to train. They need each other! =)
  5. They both look good in those matching Chinese outfits, don't they? =)

    Aw, they match!!! =)

  6. Hmm... both martial artists? (I know, pathetic, but my brain's been working overtime and I can't think of anything really good when I'm tired, so kill me why don't you!)
    These were submitted by Ghost:
  7. The Saotome and Tendo families rest on thier union.
  8. Ranma is the only human who can take her abuse and live.
  9. Akane is the only human who can take Ranma's insults and not leave him.
  10. Neither of them live well without the other.
Though Ghost submitted this, I originally intended to mention this myself. As you can tell, I obviously agree with him...
  11. Ranma loves her (yes he admitted it, volume 38) and she loves him (alright, she hasn't admitted it. But why else would she go through the wedding?).

Now for those of you who don't agree (can such people actually exist??? Shame on you if you're one of them! ^.^), here is proof of these claims, again in no specific order.
These were also submitted by Ghost:
  1. Ranma is insanely jealous and protective of Akane.
  2. Akane goes into bashing mode when she thinks he's been with another girl.
  3. They hurt each other a lot, but always make up... or forgive.
  4. Ranma killed for her (Saffron. Yes he was reincarnated but Ranma didn't know that would happen. In his mind he actually killed.)
  5. Ranma forced himself to eat her cooking when Ryoga did (Now that is quite the feat).
  6. Ranma has actually won against his pride and apologized to her.
  7. Akane always attempts to 'save' him when he's in trouble.
    These are my own observations:
  8. Don't you notice how in nearly every episode, OAV or movie they have at least one moment where they just stare at each other and some unspoken emotion passes between them? That is, before Akane realizes what's happening and whacks Ranma with a mallet...
  9. In one episode (of the anime) Ranma actually agreed to hold the wedding (that was when he thought Akane had been turned into a duck by the Jusenkyou water Mousse brought from China). Did you see how concerned he was for her?

    The Bride and Groom

I believe I may have gone past the limit with that last specific reference (that should have been saved for another section), but I felt it was necessary to point that out since the counterpart for that reason was mentioned earlier... but anyhow I stray from the topic. You see, now comes perhaps my favourite part of the list: bashing Ranma's other prospective fiancees! Here are the reasons why none of them would ever work with Ranma.
Warning: For those of you loyal to Ranma's other fiancees, you may be offended by this next section. I can't say I'm entirely apologetic (what??? so sue me, I'm stubborn), but I feel obliged to warn you at the very least.
    Shampoo
    Shampoo

    These were submitted by Ghost:
  1. She would bring him back to a feminist society (Do I really need to explain the problem there?).
  2. She has tried enough magic potions to make him suspicious of anything she does.
  3. Mousse would eventully have to be killed and Ranma wouldn't want that.
  4. He has openly said that he will not marry her.
    These are my own opinions:
  5. I think Shampoo is much too aggressive. She's constantly glomping onto him and never listens to his protests, always referring to him as her husband anyway. It may feed his ego but it's ultimately irritating for him.
  6. Her "engagement" to Ranma is based on nothing but the primitive law of the Chinese Amazons, which is needless to say completely absurd. It doesn't apply to Ranma since Ranma is in Japan and not China, and technically, Ranma only defeated Shampoo as a woman even if inside he truly was a man. He has never openly or willingly fought and defeated her as a male.
  7. Inside Shampoo truly does care for Mousse, which is apparent in many different episodes of the anime and in the second movie. Besides, as Mousse is an Amazon male they belong together, and if she ever bothered to pay attention to him, she'd see that he really is a sweet guy.

    Ukyou
    Ukyou

    This was submitted by Ghost:
  1. Actually, Ukyo would probably be the second best choice for him. The only problem is she's like a sister and he has never really thought of her as a fiancee.
    These are my own opinions:
  2. Ukyou is really very sweet but also very naive. It is only the fact that Ranma is the only guy who has ever showed her a hint of affection that makes her love him.
  3. She is almost too yielding. Her obsession with him makes her too soft, too sensitive for Ranma. Though it would boost his ego for him to have such a loyal fiancee, he needs to be challenged in his relationship. If they ever did get together I think he would quickly get bored with her; she would certainly act more like his servant than his wife.
    Kodachi
    Kodachi

This was submitted by Ghost, but honestly I share his opinion and don't believe anything more needs to be said.
  1. Do I even need to bother?

That's all so far, I'll add more as I think them up, but for now be happy because I'm very tired... *sigh*
