Julianna VanDermeer, Ex-Prince of Groton

Julianna VanDermeer is by far the most confusing person in Groton. This is her story:

Born in the mountains of Austria in the 1400's, Julianna was the first child of Lord Eric VanDermeer. She grew up in the Imperial court, spending most of her time with her father, who was the advisor of the Emperor. When she was 6 Julianna's father married Margaret DuChane, trying to give his daughter the mother she had never had. (Julianna's mother died in childbirth) Julianna couldn't have been happier, especially when her baby brother, Lars, was born 2 years later.

Julianna's life progressed as usual. She learned to read and write, and learned Latin and Greek from Father John - the family's confessor. She was a sweet young girl, liked by all. Even so, rumors spread amongst the townsfolk. It was said that when little Julianna slept she turned to stone. Her nurse and father disavowed such a viscious rumor, and it was dropped - for the most part. The terrible part was that it was true. Lord VanDermeer didn't understand it, but there was something special about his daughter. He felt she was blessed, as many in his family were, and loved her no matter what. She was all he had left of her mother, and would protect her from the church - even with his life.

When she was 16, Julianna got a new tutor. Her name was Melinda. Nobody in the household liked her, but for some reason Julianna adored her. When Lord VanDermeer dismissed Melinda, Julianna went into a deep depression. Finally her father was forced to bring Melinda back, and all was well. Secretly, Melinda taught Julianna about magic and the occult, which Julianna excelled in. When Julianna turned 18 she was given her mothers locket, the only thing that was left of her. Upon recieving it Julianna let out a blood curdling scream and fell to the ground, holding her head and shaking.

Part2

Of course, Julianna's father was scared, having never seen anything like this happen to his daughter. He called for the family confessor, Father John, who told him not to worry, that all would be well, and that the Lord would watch over Julianna. They carried her up to her room and let her rest. That night, Melinda came to her. Julianna woke up when she felt a pain in her neck, and found her tutor there, feeding from her. She tried to scream, but could do nothing but lay there. She slowly slipped away, and as Melinda pulled up from her, she saw a huge man standing over them both. He was very angry, and attacked Melinda, but she simply looked him in the eye and commanded him to stop. Laughing, she said that no creature of Tremere's creation was going to stop her from her long awaited prize. She slit her own wrist, and fed Julianna from it. Too weak to fight, Julianna ttok the blood, and ended her life as a human being. The huge man roared in rage, but Melinda made sure he could not move. Then Melinda took Julianna to her father, saying if Julianna was not allowed to leave with her, that she would die. Loving Julianna so much, he did as he was told. History would say that the young noble woman had died of a unknown cause. Her father mourned her loss, for he knew he would never see her again.

Julianna was deeply depressed, like her soul had been ripped from her heart. She would do nothing, and even the blod bond that she shared with Melinda would not influence her. Melinda was becoming angry, for she had wanted a powerful proginy to do her work for her, not a girl who could barely even move of her own accord. One night she brought her to Elysium, hoping that meeting others would make her happy. It wasn't working until a young man came up and took Julianna's hand. Melinda was about to stop him when he bent down and kissed it, and Julianna actually reacted. He told her that she was by far the most beautiful creature he had ever laid eyes upon, and that she would be his muse. From that point on, Julianna and Dimitri became the closest of friends. He helped her through her tough times, and she inspired him in his writing. He later published many works, and the world would call him William Shakespeare.

When Melinda noticed them becoming close, and that her control over Julianna was slipping ,she decided they would move to The Americas. There Melinda would be Regent of her own Chantry. They took a boat to Connecticut, and founded the village of Mystic, named by Julianna herself. They owned much of the land, and built many homes. There Melinda stored her occult library, spead out incase of fire or theives. There was only one other Cainite there, a Nosferatu by the name of Monacle. He would not say when he had arrived, only that it was long ago. Slowly though, more and more kindred filtered in.
