Crusade to Castle Hawkwind

PLOT OUTLINE:

Arik tried to kidnap Andarra, but he was overpowered by a band of snow giants, who took her back to their fort.

INTRODUCTORY SETTING:

The town of Haven, where the people are particularly cautious. The town was recently paid a visit by Arik, riding on horseback with his tax-collectors. He was not travelling with Andarra at the time. He harassed a number of townsfolk, if only to gloat over them.

CHARACTERS:

Aragore - Arik's chief tax-collector. Aragore has no problem killing peasants to instill fear in their hearts.

Gandor - the owner of one of Haven's taverns, called Gandor's Gander. Calidor knows him from before he travelled to Dara.

Calrick - a mysterious man with a red cape. He is in fact a friend of Gandor's. He travelled to the Stormheim Mountains to intercept Arik's shipment of the brownish-yellow sleeping liquid, also known as Alpenbitter.

Hertan - a red-headed, belligerent fighter who is an enforcer of Arik's.

Tarin - a dwarf blacksmith who has a store next door to Gandor's. He is belligerent and easily annoyed.

Gerack, Sorlan, Pron - Arik's outer guards, who are not enemies.

Sidian - A lonely troubadour. He plays a mandolin, and is very friendly. Recently, one of Arik's men (Hertan) smashed his mandolin, but Sidian managed to pick his pouch. Sidian has what he calls a "luckstone", which is shaped like a celtic cross. It has the following powers:

SIDIAN'S LUCKSTONE

This is a new magic item with the following properties: -will occasionally point toward anomalies. In other words, if it is held between the thumb and forefinger horizontally, it may turn and point.
-can cure light wounds but only rarely (once a week) and doesn't always work.
-causes a character to be lucky at purely chance things, if he rubs it. When rubbed, it can chip like chalk. The more luck the situation requires, the more it crumbles.
-causes an obsession. Characters who possess it will find themselves not wanting to let it go. To keep it 'safe'. They will become aggressive with anyone who takes it.
-can cause random events to occur such that a character who possesses it (and uses it for luck) will gradually lose his/her other items of magical value. The reason is that the stone is 'jealous'.

OIL OF EVERBURNING

The yellow oily liquid in the vial is oil of ever-burning. It can be used in a torch to light it forever.

QUAM'S OINTMENT

The strong smelling green ointment is in a small wooden jar, on a leather string. It is thick and inhibits magic like a dispel magic spell (only when it is not in the jar).
