Cities In Dara

TRINSIC
Trinsic is very 'Roman' style. It has high grey-white walls and is well kept.
The city has four main divisions, by class: Aristocratic, Market, Militia and Classy Stores.
Access is restricted to the Aristocratic partition.

IRIQUAITH
Has a large shrine in the centre of the city, in ruins. Originally a fishing city, this western port village rapidly grew with trade from overseas. Bordering on a desert, the city is very warm and arid. It has a certain isolation from Dara in that it is rarely visited due to its remote location. Most people who are there don't stay long, and arrived by ship. The main tavern is called the Shipyard. The main inn is run by grumpy half-orcs who once were pirates.

ORIPHAN
This city wouldn't be known except for the fact that the King and Queen live here. They are royalty by blood only, and only take the time to sign legal papers if it will prevent too much noise. Oriphan is quiet, serene, and beautiful. The reason is that the waters around for miles are treacherously rocky and dangerous for ships. Non-human access to this land (Kirkdale Region) is not welcome for similar reasons as the Dwarves to the north. Oriphan is a slow-paced, mature town with a lot of historical settings, namely three volumous libraries (one of which is the King's Royal Library). The dignitaries moved to escape political life and raised there kids here. They have a stately mansion near Brennock and have lived there ever since. They welcome (human) visitors as long as they display some class.

FAYEBURG
An high-elven city of great beauty. Contrary to the name, Faye elves do not live here. During their monthly moon celebrations, they hang coloured cloths from the trees and the women all wear silver jewelry. Here, Faye Wine is the best in Dara and the people are friendly.

DECANIA
A filthy town. It is the pit of crime and wickedness located metaphorically at the foot of the continent. The people here aren't all bad, but there are factions, rivals and feuds. There is a saying that not a day goes by without some sort of riot in Decania. There are old landed ships here, from as long ago as one century, and peasants live in them.

TERTIA
A small hamlet of a town, with few trees and a population crowded into a small space. Farmers have extended the region with tracts of land up to the desert. Tertia is seemingly unaffected by the noise and filth of Decania. Many clerics live here - particularly of Pelor since the city is almost always sunny. Tertia is so named because it was the third city founded in Dara. In spite of this, it does not seem old. The lack of rain and moisture has well-preserved the old houses, some for over 150 years (600 DE).

PRANDT
This is the heart of Dara. It has major roads leading to Lamonia, Tertia, Anespris, Decania and half-way to Fayeburg. Being the largest city next to Lamonia, Prandt is bustling with merchants, traders, entertainers and soldiers of all sorts. The narrow, high-walled streets with crooked, dutch-like houses lean in and sometimes seem to block out the sun. One major populus of Prandt is that of spiritists. They believe that Prandt is a karmal focus of the continent, and have many theories to support this. It has once been said that if Prandt falls, all of Dara will fall with it. One main characteristic of this city is it's ignorance of politics. Although there is enforcement of laws, the people of Prandt (mainly merchants) go about their business without hassling anyone else or being concerned with other cities. Due to severe uprisings fourteen years before, the curreny mayor Aswold II does not collect taxes. The damage done to the city that night still shows. Many people pass through Prandt. Nobody knows for sure who really stays - and are reluctant to admit it. When Prant gets foggy, the northern regions of Dara frequently get severe snow storms.

CAMUN
Camun is a Bashri city of hill-people who are rather isolated from most Darans. They are known for their ancient underground passages, which twist and wind for many miles. Few people bother the Bashri. They don't speak common, and people have been known to disappear when they travel in that region. Some say they are transformed...

ANESPRIS
A rather forboding city which is mainly made of wood - not a problem because on the heath, it is either raining or very foggy most of the year. There is a great twenty foot wooden wall with spikes surrounding the building. There is a single huge door facing north. Anespris has ancient ties to vampires. Nobody knows but it is rumoured that the city was (mistakenly) build right over a large cemetary, where the bodies of people from the war were buried in 689 DE.

MARADON
This rather isolated city thrives on sea-trade with the Old World. The city is not very tolerant of outsiders. Ledrik the Learned lives here. The Grey Talon is the big tavern here. Baron Von Bilfrik is the mayor (in charge). There are two decent libraries in town. Low taxes.

ESCHELA
This is a large city with a military atmosphere. It has large stone walls surrounding the city, and guarding towers all around. King Graywin (of Lamonia) has many connections here, since his main military force was here for over one year. Baron Anton Lerano now rules - and he is very old. Large thief and assassin guild infrastructure (despite the military atmosphere). The Great Cask - the most popular tavern in town, often has live music and war stories from abroad.

LAMONIA
A great walled region ("kingdom") of unfarmed grassland with a large wealthy city tucked inside. It has an impressive castle located on a hill in the north-central part of town. The city was heavily damaged by a Red Dragon one year ago, and has been well repaired since then (this new "strip" in town is very obvious). King Patrick Graywin currently rules this kingdom as a peace-time military state in Dara. Grey Eagle - a big tavern with two levels. Popular. Sometimes has dancing. The Bar Stool - small bar with two sides, and large stools. Information is given by the bartender based on a traveller's honesty about his bad wine.
