J'ai fait cet interview, il y a environs 5 ans à l'époque de la sortie de Lex Talionis... Il faut avouer qu'Acheron est un groupe assez particulier qui utilise un melange de Death et de Black de maniére tout a fait old school'... Ils sont toujours de fervents admirateurs Anton Szandor LaVey (Make money...), malgres le boycott de cette "église" par tout les grands groupes Européens... Mais bon, Acheron reste et restera un pilier de la scene de Tampa, bien loin des bouffoneries de Glen Benton, de la mort annoncée d'Obituary et de la pathétique démonstration du "nouveau" Morbid Angel (sans David Vincent, je veux dire...)... Bref, les vieux d'Acheron sont et resteront!!!!

What is the history of "Acheron"? Can you describe each members of the band?
I formed "Acheron" back in 1988 to be a band that didn't use Satanism for a gimmick, but to represent the real thing. I have worked with many musicians in the past, but now the line up is me on Vocals and Bass, Trebor Ladres on guitar, Mike Browning on Drums, John Scott on Keyboards and Peter Gilmore does our intros on the album.
How do you call your music?
I hate labels, but most people classify it as Apocalyptic Black/Death Metal.
What inspire you for write the music and the lyrics?
My Darkside. Everything in the world inspires me, but that dark part of my psyche brings out my writing.
"Acheron" 's favorite show?
It would have to be the show we did with Obituary on december 26, 1992. we did a live Black Mass in front of over 1000 people. Pure Blasphemy!!!!!
I have heard that the Order of Evil Eye didn't exist anymore, is it true? And if it is: why did you stop it and have you reached your goal?
Yes, it's true. The Order of Evil Eye was a harsh revolt towards Christianity. I felt it was needed to show the impotent Jesus freaks that their was a large network of people who did not care or believe in their religious crutch, which of course is Christianity. in the last year Christians have publicly revealed their fears by exposing their true nature. Some people have said "how could you retire the O.E.E., the christians are worse than ever!", but what those people don't realize is that the more they fight, the more trouble they are in. Christianity is in its last death throws, so I will not waste anymore energy giving credence to its wortless existence. Science and technology is replacing a need for a make believe God.
Lethal records?
Lethal Records has ripped off us and dozens of other bands. All I have to say about them is "beware".
What's the band's best and worst memories?
The best memory would have to be when me and our ex-guitarist Vincent Breeding did a debate video with Christian Talk Show host Bob Larson called "The Devil and Death Metal". I got to rip up a Bible and throw it in his face. The worst would be Signing to Turbo and Lethal Records.
Where have you recorded your first record?
"Rites of the Black Mass" was recorded at Morrisound Studios in Tampa, Florida and Scott Burns worked with us.
What does "Venom" evoke to you?
They are the ones who got the ball rolling. I personally could care less if they were Satanists or not, since they were a brutal fucking band. Hail Venom!!!
What do you think about the French scene?
Some of the bands I have heard sound great.

Why do you support A.S. La Vey?
I feel Anton La Vey is an individual that put together an idea that is true to the human animal. He gave the term "satanism" a meaning and made the world look at a un-religion religion. Dr. La Vey has made a tremendous impact to mankind.
You said, in Wolf Age Volume 1, Issue 5, "I myself am a racist. Yes, I hate the human race!". Can you explain why meantime you fight for your race and against "human race"?
That statement was me being a smart ass. I had quite a few people accusing me of being a fascist or a racist, due to my hability to use symbols that are not politically correct. I guess that since I am of European heritage and am proud of that, this makes me a racist in some people eyes. In reality, I don't give a fuck about anybody but my own circle of friends and family. I hate all types of people, not just those who do not share my pigmentation of skin. Believe me, when I see a white trash idiot, that is on welfare, screaming "White Power", it makes me repulsed. Just because your white, that doesn't make me your friend or your comrade, it takes much more. So I am a "human racist". But even though I have cleared this up with you, i will still hear shit about "why did you call your album "Hail Victory", or "you shaved your head, are you a skinhead nazi?". People are narrow minded and should look beyond setero types and politically correct actions. Am I a Nazi? No I am worse, I am a Satanist!
Do you consider Acheron's lyrics as a way to teach Satanism to young Metal fans?
Yes and no. I do Acheron, because it is a release of my magical emotions and its brings me much gratification. But it is a powerful medium for the youth. I have never tried to force anyone to be Satanist, just let them know we are around. Acheron is more than a band, its an entity.
What is your definition of Satanism?
A self worshipping idea that uses "Satan" and other devils in mythology as archetypes.It's an elitist attitude with the use of magick and knowledge. A true "Satanist" is the superman, highest embodiment of flesh.
Lex Talionis: i have ever heard that somewhere else, what does it mean and why did you chooose it?
It is the law of Fang and Claw or Survival of the littest. I believe in this philosophy deeply and felt it was the right tittle for one of our albums. the song "Purification Day" says it all.
What do you think of the "Never stop the madness" campaign a few Black Metal bands lead, for the use of hard drugs: a way to kill junkies?
I agree with this 100%. Let's even give the drug slaves free dope. they would kill them selves off and that's all right by me. Junkies are human waste.
Have you any political position?
Not really, I prefer to stay out of that arena. Politicians, politicial labels and broken promises do not interest me in any way, shape or form.
Do you think that Charles Manson made politic when he tried to make accuse Black panthers with the things like "Political Pigs" etc. He wrote on the walls with the blood of his victims, to make them scapegoat, or do you think he was simply crazy?
Charles Manson is not crazy. He is a very intelligent individual, that has be persecuted for the deeds of others. Charlie is the perfect symbol of the scapegoat. I could not honestly tell you what my feelings are about the Black Panther ordeal, since only Charlie really knows. Those who dissect his words and ideas can find some truly interesting thoughts.
Have you any new project with Satananism?
I personally have been made a Satanic priest in the Church of Satan by Anton La Vey and a initiate of the Priesthooh of UR in the Temple of Vampire. I am also part of the Wolfen Brood.
Are you for or against death penalty in your state?
I am totally for it. I don't believe in turning the other cheek. People should take responsability for their own actions, wheter it be positive or negative.
Please some words for the European Satanists...

Reverend Vincent Crowley unleashed diabolical fury upon the world with his creation of ACHERON in 1988. ACHERON was evoked to embody the very essence of Satanism, crystallized in the violent sounds of Apocalyptic Black/Death Metal, Crowley joined forces with Peter H. Gilmore, classically trained composer of electronic music and a Magister of the infamous CHURCH OF SATAN. The two combined resources to create a uniquw musical amalgam. Thus began ACHERON'S descent into darkness.
ACHERON released several well-selling demo, generating interest among various labels. Their first demo, Messe Noir, was later pressed as a limited edition 7 inch record (666 copies) on Reaper Records in Belgium. In 1991, the band signed to Turbo Music/JL America Records and recorded their first full-length album, Rites of the Black Mass. This became an underground classic, the first metal recording to use traditional Black Mass texts with gothic/symphonic interludes between each song. Here was an authentic Satanic Black Mass, demonstrating that ACHERON was neither a fad nor a gimmick.
The topic of ACHERON's album caught the eye of a short lived NBC talk show called Cristina. Crowley flew to Miami, Florida, to discuss his views on Satanism and Black/Death Metal music. The show was full of Christian lies and propaganda, yet Crowley stood firm on his beliefs. A clip from the show featuring Reverend Crowley later appeared on the television news show Entertainment Tonight, when they did a story about Cristina.
In 1992, Gutted Records, soon to become Metal Merchant Records, released Alla Xul, a 7 inch record the first 500 copies of which were pressed in blood-red vinyl. With the new label name came a new pressing format for this release.
That same year, Lethal Records signed the group and released Satan Victory and Lex Talionis. There was talk about the re-release of a new version of Rites of the Black Mass on the label, but this never ended up manifesting,
Anton Szandor LaVey, the founder and High Priest of the CHURCH OF SATAN, kept his eye on Crowley's progress, both musically and as a spokesperson for Satanism. In 1994, Dr. LaVey appointed Crowley to the priesthood of the CHURCH OF SATAN, an honor that was proudly accepted. Crowley was later promoted to the rank of Magister, thus proving to be more than a Black/Death Metal musician using Satanic imagery for kicks.
Lethal Records' version of Satanic Victory was not as the band envisioned, so ACHERON brought out the album as intended on Metal Merchant Records, which included two extra songs and a setting by Peter H. Gilmore of Dr. LaVey's Nine Satanic Statements to serve as intro's and the outro, as well as completely new packaging.
The band's notoriety received attention from Christian commentator and evangelist Bob Larsen\on, host of Talk Back and Bob Larson Live. Crowley was Larson's invited adversary for several stimulating encounters. When Larson visited a church in Largo, Florida, he dared ACHERON to confront him face to face. The challenge was met in a debate before 2000 Christians who got their first introduction to real Satanism. When Larson condemned ACHERON's music and stage shows, Crowley tore a Holy Bible asunder before the alter and contemptuously tossed the shredded scriptures into the audience of Christian fanatics. Security forces ushered the band through the side exit, avoiding the enraged mob. Larson later dedicated a broadcast of Talk Back to the encounter, admitting the bravery of the band while condemning their philosophy. Larson, unable to resist temptation, later invited ACHERON to Denver, Colorado, to appear to his studio to record a debate video release. The result, The Devil and Death Metal, was memorable one-hour knock-down drag-out clash that became a hotly-traded underground hit.
After a two year hiatus, Crowley started ACHERON's wheels in motion again. This time with the new element of a keyboardist by the name of John Scott. The keyboards were added to help evolve the music of the band, without compromising the known ACHERON style.
An unauthorized ACHERON video called Lust, Sin, Chaos and Blasphemy surfaced in late 1995. It was a semi-pro video that used 14 ACHERON songs and a previously conducted interview with Reverend Vincent Crowley. It was an extreme production of over-the-top footage combined with ACHERON's blasphemous songs. This video is not meant for the weak at heart of the easily offended.
ACHERON was featured on several compilation albums, including Turbo Music/JL America Records' Triumph of Death and Brutal Aggression, plus Nuclear Blast's European version of Death is just the Beginning 3.
ACHERON then signed to Moribund Records, which released a mini CD called Anti-God, Anti-Christ.
The band will now concentrate on their next full-length album "Those Who Have Risen", which will be based on the mythos of the TEMPLE OF THE VAMPIRE. This religious body has blessed ACHERON's efforts to produce a call to all those children of the night to preserve their royal bloodline.
Crowley is an initiate of the priesthood of UR, a secretive order of the Inner Temple. This album will reveal the secrets of true vampirism.
