is Japanese for "cram school", i.e. an after-school tutoring
school] (original series)
First appearance: Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon Episode 008
A cram school located in the Azabu Juuban district of Minato-ku in the
city of Tokyo, Japan - once attended by Ami Mizuno for a short time following
her transfer to Juuban Junior High School - which served as a front for
one of Jadeite's energy gathering operations for the Dark Kingdom. Having
assumed human form as an instructor, one of his Youmas, Garoben, advocated
the use of the Crystal Disk, a revolutionary new piece of computer software
that could allegedly turn anyone into a genius with prolonged usage. Little
did any of Crystal Seminar's students suspect that the diskette in question
actually contained a brainwashing program designed to drain them of their
neural energy - the "energy of their knowledge and intelligence"
- while simultaneously turning them into mindless human zombies under the
monster's complete control. This plan was later foiled through the combined
efforts of Sailor Moon and Sailor Mercury during the latter's debut appearance
as a Sailor Soldier, thereby restoring the cram school's students to normal.
Given the sinister intentions with which it had been originally created
and maintained, it remains uncertain exactly what happened to Crystal Seminar
following Garoben's destruction.
