Indeed, it is not even known what she is - provided Metallia is actually female in nature - though one account has described her as being "the collective energy of human hatred", a physical manifestation of one of the darkest of emotions inherant within the soul of man. While the inherant accuracy of this statement can neither be confirmed nor denied, what is known with absolute certainty is that she first appeared on Earth approximately one thousand years ago during the time of the Silver Millenium, where she manifested herself in the form of a gigantic shadowy wraith. Under circumstances which have yet to be fully revealed, Queen Metallia corrupted the young sorceress who would later come to be known as Queen Beryl with her dark energies. Beryl in turn, recruited countless others into following her lead, most notably four young men by the names of Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoisite and Kunzite, the future Dark Generals. As Metallia's sinister influence spread and threatened to consume the entire world, sunspot activity rose dramatically, provoking an alarming increase in earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions and other natural disasters on a global scale. Most likely seeking to extend her sphere of influence to encompass both the Earth and the Moon - and quite possibly even the universe itself - Queen Metallia took the first step towards this ambitious goal by taking part in Queen Beryl's direct assault on the Moon Kingdom in conjunction with the massive human army at the command of the four Dark Generals. Unleashing the full force of the tremendous power at her command upon her adversaries, the demonic entity began laying waste to the Moon, effortlessly slaying its most ardent defenders, the Sailor Soldiers, when they attempted to stop her, as well as Princess Serenity, Prince Endymion and countless other innocents. Her rampage was eventually brough to an end by Queen Serenity, who used the power of her Illusion Silver Crystal to banish Queen Metallia and her followers to and imprison them within the subterranean realm that eventually came to be known as the Dark Kingdom, but not before they had utterly decimated the Moon Kingdom and slain most - if not all - of its inhabitants. For a millennia, Queen Metallia lay dormant in the deepest bowels of the Dark Kingdom, her energy essence encased within a giant cocoonlike structure, until she was suddenly roused from her long sleep by Queen Beryl following several offerings of the human energy that the Dark Generals Jadeite and Nephrite had gathered during the course of their exploits on Earth. Though still extremely weak after ten centuries of imprisonment, she nevertheless assumed an active role in the Dark Kingdom's exploits almost immediately upon being reawakened by providing information and functioning in an advisory capacity. Her first such action was to inform Beryl of the existence of the magical jewels known as Rainbow Crystals so that the latter could retrieve them from the human reincarnations of the Seven Great Youmas and bring them together to form the Illusion Silver Crystal, whose power the demonic entity allegedly required in order to fully revive. Even in the absence of the mystical gem, however, Metallia's unholy strength continued to grow with each passing day, and it remained only a matter of time until the point was reached where she would become powerful enough to bring about her own resurrection, without any outside intervention. Some time later, following the reappearance of the Silver Crystal and its subsequent loss by the Dark Kingdom to the Sailor Soldiers, Queen Beryl presented Queen Metallia with Tuxedo Mask, who had been abducted by Kunzite after an encounter with Zoisite that had left him gravely injured and near death. Recognizing him as the reincarnation of Prince Endymion and perhaps sensing a great potential for evil in corrupting him, Metallia suggested that they use her dark energies to resurrect him, thereby brainwashing him into serving the Dark Kingdom's cause. Once this had been accomplished, the demonic entity began taking extraordinary measures to ensure the welfare of her newest convert, even going so far as to summon him back from an encounter with the Sailor Soldiers rather than risk losing so valuable an agent. Though it has never been clearly stated exactly why she considered Prince Endymion to be so utterly indispensible - indeed, the strange code of ethics he adhered to while in his brainwashed state was often counterproductive to the Dark Kingdom's interests - one reason may have been that he appeared to be an ideal vessel for her dark energies. In fact, she infused him with so much of it following the restoration of his true self at the hands of Sailor Moon that even the latter's "Moon Healing Escalation" would later prove incapable of working its magic a second time. As the time of Queen Metallia's imminent resurrection drew nigh, it provoked both an expansion of sunspot size and an increase in their number, as well as a veritable onslaught of meteorological and natural disasters the likes of which had not been seen since her original coming a thousand years earlier. In a desperate attempt to prevent history from repeating itself, the Sailor Soldiers travelled to the North Pole to engage the forces of the Dark Kingdom in battle to determine the fate of the world, a bloody confrontation that only Sailor Moon managed to survive and one which culminated in the death of her beloved Mamoru while he attempted to protect her from Queen Beryl's wrath moments after she had succeeded in freeing him from Metallia's evil influence. Mortally wounded after being struck in the heart by one of Mamoru's - or rather, his alter ego Prince Endymion's - roses, Queen Beryl appeared before her demonic mistress and asked that she might be granted the power she required in order to defeat Sailor Moon once and for all. Proclaiming that the time had finally come to spread the seeds of hatred and greed throughout the universe and deciding to fulfill Beryl's request by making her her messenger of chaos and destruction, Metallia's essence finally broke free of its confinement, her dark energy not only comsuming and merging with the physical form of her acolyte but also spreading out to engulf the entire world in a blanket of darkness and shadows. In this hybrid form, Queen Beryl battled Sailor Moon - who has assumed her Princess Serenity form - to a standstill, but ultimately proved to be no match for the combined power of the Silver Crystal and those of the spirits of the four Sailor Soldiers. In the end, both she and Queen Metallia were utterly consumed by an enormous blast of energy from the Moon Stick and destroyed, presumably forever. Height: Unknown in both demon and human form Weight: Unknown in both demon and human form Eyes: Yellow (demon form, no visible irises or pupils); red (human form) Hair: None (demon form); green (human form) Skin: Black (demon form); white (human form) Abilities: A demonic entity of incredible destructive
power, Queen Metallia - in her original demonic form - was able to release
massive bolts of lightning from her body, as well as gigantic bursts of
green energy from her mouth and hands, the latter of which could be maintained
as a continuous beam over a prolonged period of time. She could also infuse
human beings with her sinister dark energies, thereby brainwashing them
into subservience. In the giant hybrid form she assumed after empowering
Queen Beryl with her dark energy, she could emit powerful, continuous bursts
of black lightning from her hands and may well have had additional powers
that remain unrevealed. Though she appears to have had a distinct preference
for the human variety, Metallia was apparently some sort of "energy
vampire" by nature, capable of absorbing and feeding on energy of
all kinds, including the magical energy of the Sailor Soldiers' attacks.
While never clearly stated, there appears to have been an upper limit when
it came to the amount she could safely take it at one time - one lower
than the maximum output of the Illusion Silver Crystal - otherwise she
should have easily been able to assimilate its energy instead of first
being banished and later destroyed by it. Back
