The Jigglypuff Shrine
A Pokemon page by Boss Smiley
This page, like
several others on the web, is dedicated to that most strange, marvellous and disturbingly cute of Pokemon (TM): the small pink creature known as Jigglypuff. My own obsession with this strange little entity started in October 1999, when I inadvertantly made the mistake of watching an episode of the "Pokemon" cartoon in which Jigglypuff played a key role in the preservation of life as we know it ("Prehistoric Pokemon"). From that point on I devoted myself to finding out as much as possible about Jigglypuff and its' corpus of musical work.
Q: Who or what is Jigglypuff?
A: As Jigglypuff does not give interviews (being only able to say its name probably has some influence on this decision) we were forced to consult a Pokedex for personal information on this enigmatic little beasty.
According to the Pokedex Jigglypuff is a Pokemon of the balloon species. It is 1'8" in height and 12lbs in weight and sings a mysteriously soothing song.
It evolves from Jigglypuff into Wigglytuff if it is exposed to a Moon Stone.
Q: What does Jigglypuff's song sound like?
A: Although many people have ever some of the song of Jigglypuff it is rare to hear the song in its' entirety. However, at great personal risk we have been able to procure a copy of the entire song of Jigglypuff!
Hear Jigglypuff sing!

Note: do not attempt to drive, operate heavy machinery or stay awake while under the influence of Jigglypuff's singing.
Q: What are Jigglypuff's Likes and Dislikes?
A: Through a careful study of Jigglypuff over an extended period we were able to determine the following:
Likes: Singing, marker pens, kicking Pikachus, anything that looks like a stage.
Dislikes: People falling asleep, balloons, Clefairys, helium.
Q: What does Jigglypuff want from life?
A: Jigglypuff is not your average Pokemon and its wants and needs are different from those expected of either wild or tame Pokemon. From what we have been able to learn from its behaviour Jigglypuff appears to be afflicted by a terrible case of 'stars in its eyes'. This causes it to see the entire world in terms of fame, glamour and chances to become a famous singer. Where most of us would see a boring spade stuck into a pile of sand the mind of a Jigglypuff sees a microphone set upon a lighted stage. Although this dedication to its' goal is an admirable one which has lead to several cunning plans it has also resulted in Jigglypuff making foolish mistakes in the past.
But
more than fame and fortune, perhaps more than anything else Jigglypuff wants to
be respected and admired for its musical talents. To date no-one has yet been able to give the poor Pokemon the appreciation it assuredly deserves, mainly because they rudely fall asleep while it is singing. Being a classic example of the fiery-tempered creative artist Jigglypuff treats its critics as they deserve and often scrawls execrations and curses upon the faces of such philistines with its ever-ready marker pen.
Q: Biographical details?
A: Jigglypuff's early life is shrouded in mystery. It was discovered lost, alone and unable to sing in a forest during "The Song of Jigglypuff" episode. After recieving voice training and magical fruit from the Pokemon trainers Misty, Ash and Brock it performed several small, open-air concerts for select audiences of Pokemon before entering the bigtime at an impromptu street-concert in Neon Town. After this Jigglypuff followed its' friends through their adventures, saving their skins a number of times (the so-called "Togepi Episode", "Clefairy Tales" and the episode where Snorlax eats its way across the Grapefruit islands).
When not regaling its' friends with song Jigglypuff has variously found employment as a karaoke singer, baby-Pokemon minder, ghost-impersonator and an air quality inspector (Firecave Episodes, Growlithe Episode, Airship Episode, Pinken Island Episode). Truly a versatile and multi-talented creature!
Apocrypha
Ancient Giant Jigglypuffs
It is believed by scholars that the lost city of Pokemopolis was once protected from monsters by a unique guardian Pokemon: a giant Jigglypuff known to its friends as Bigglybuff. One can only imagine what this culture would have been like, although they were doubtless very relaxed. :-)
Official! Jigglypuff is perfect!
According to the Greek philosopher Euclid the most perfect shape in the world is a sphere as every part of its surface is an equal distance from its centre. Long-time Jigglypuff watchers will know that Jigglypuff is also spherical: QED. :-)
Bumbly Baby Jigglypuffs
It has recently been brought to my attention that the new "Pokemon: Silver & Gold" games will feature a Pokemon called 'Igglybuff'. This Pokemon (#174) is supposed to be the pre-evolution of Jigglypuff.
