The monthly shoujo manga / culture magazine, Smile, has been cancelled. TOKYOPOP has announced that the June issue will be the final issue of Smile. Sagging sales weren't the reason, but rather TOKYOPOP says it is instead trying to focus their effors on creating more and better books in the "Authentic Manga" series. Smile magazine has debuted a number of shoujo manga series to US audiences but don't fret just yet. "No despair", says TOKYOPOP, "those same TOKYOPOP titles you have enjoyed in Smile are now available in graphic novel form at book and comic stores nationwide." So there you have it. Oh, please note that due to production issues that the final June issue of Smile is being released this month.
