A tanuki (tanuki are similar to badgers and raccoons) who aids Miroku. He's rather cowardly, but less prone to running away than Myouga.
Hachi has limited powers of transformation. Most commonly, he changes into a large flying something, shown at right, that can comfortably transport over half a dozen people.
