Grotesques:
![]() I take 8-10 depending on the mission. These guys are Moving shields that can make slave catching difficulties a thing of the past. Add a Haemonculi or 2 and they are awesome. Mounted in a Raider wastes the shielding ability but in slave Raid they are a great tactic. Let the Lord ride along for a bit and winning combat will be a breeeze. Auto fallback is ugly.
Mandrakes:
![]() Specialty warriors to say the least. I use them to break down screens of cannon fodder troops.
They can be useful in setting up crossfires, capturing bunkers and Table quadrants. Against Imperial guard they are great just keep the ogryns away. I really do use these in every army. Playing with your opponent as to where they will appear forces them to often make difficult decisions which lends the edge to you. The latest upgrade to the shadow skin means they are much for survivable especially in cover during last minute shooting to dislodge them :)
Wyches:
![]() ![]() Close combat Queens. I think a squad of 9 in a raider with a succubus armed with an agoniser is pretty standard. The New Rules for them is a beautiful thing. 4+ Invulnerable in Close combat, and the less confusing more useful weapon rules is great all for 12 points. In my experience they last longer and hang around in close combat quite well as it should be, and they pack a punch depending on the combat drugs. Large squads of 15+ in a webway is a very nasty surpise.
Don't Forget the combat drugs!!
Warp Beast:
![]() Clean up Isle 9. Charging these guys into combat behind wyches or grotesques is one of my favorite tactics. Others screen them behind a Talos, but behind grotesques they excel. Always take 5 its only 75 pts, and you get a beastmaster armed with an agoniser. Fleet of footing this squad around the board is a no brainer. What a deal! These are very good support for other squads but die quickly so keep that in mind.
