Welcome. This web site is intended mainly for players on our Amber PBeM Game, Ancient Roots, Young Boughs.

Perhaps you don't know what that means? In short, Amber is a role-playing game (group storytelling) set in the fantasy works of author Roger Zelazny, who wrote (among other things) a series of stories about a prince of the one real world seeking to gain the throne amid treachery, deceit and conflict.

This site is meant to be a resource for the players of the game, and is ideally geared for those who are familiar with role-playing, and even more so, for those familiar with Amber.

If you wish to participate, read this section on how to join.

However, before you begin, it would be best to read the introduction below to get a good understanding of what I am trying to achieve with this PBeM.

You should have read Roger Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber, which is composed of the following books, in order:
Nine Princes in Amber
The Guns of Avalon
The Sign of the Unicorn
The Hand of Oberon
The Courts of Chaos.

I am going to assume the reader understands many of the terms of the books and also the basic plot lines. Do note, however, for various reasons of my own, I am ignoring the second Amber series, based on the character Merlin. If you've read them, ignore them. If you have never read them, so much the better.

It would also be helpful if you have ever read or owned the Phage Press Amber Diceless Role Playing Game. This is not mandatory, however, since I am using my own house rules rather than the ones presented therein, but it would present a rather rough idea of how to approach Zelazny's novels from a gamer's perspective.

This game is about Amber, not super powers, the Courts of Chaos, or wandering odd parallel universes. I want the campaign to capture the feel of the original Chronicles (ie, Corwin's)as much as possilbe (though you will likely note my prose is much different from Zelazny's). Chaos is not a friendly place, and shadow holds mystery. Many, if not most events will be centered around Amber itself. Characters should be built around intrigue, scandal, plots and adventure.

All characters will be of the Blood of Amber. No Chaosians, no shadow folk, no 'lost' Amberites.
