Intro
Christina Aguilera's life-long dream of gaining recognition in the music business came true in a very big way. Maybe that's because the remarkable teenager was literally signed, sealed and delivered to the pop world overnight, joining up with RCA and Disney almost simultaneously. The musical newcomer sings 'Reflection' from Disney's newest animated film, Mulan. At just 17, the blue-eyed blond with the sultry voice is proving how dramatically life can change for a teenage girl from Pittsburgh.
At just about the same time that Christina was signed to RCA, Chris Montan, executive music producer for Disney Feature Animation, was scouring the music world searching for an artist to sing 'Reflection.' "We were looking for a voice that conveys a feeling, not just narrates it, says Montan.
With a clear vision of what he wanted, Chris Montan contacted RCA Records Sr. VP of A&R and Staff Producer, Ron Fair. Knowing that Montan was looking for a powerful voice with a wide vocal range, he called Christina. She knew she was up to the challenge, and promised she would be in touch within a couple of hours. Christina made a tape using a simple tape recorder. Her make-shift audition tape was enough to convince Montan that the search was over. Forty-eight hours and 3,000 miles later, Christina was in a Los Angeles recording studio belting out her interpretation of 'Reflection.' Chris Montan's bold step to feature a fresh newcomer had come to fruition.
'Reflection' relates the quandary of Mulan, a young Chinese woman of irrepressible courage. "Christina's voice brings a mature sensibility to the song," Montan continues. Her debut in the animated film 'Mulan' puts her in awe-inspiring company, joining the ranks of Vanessa Williams, Elton John, Michael Bolton and Celine Dion who have all lent their vocal stylings in previous Disney projects.
Although Christina is now
breaking in the U.S., she is a seasoned professional who has
honed her musical skills in Europe and Japan. She recorded a duet
and accompanying video with Japanese singer, Keizo Nakanishi.
The single, 'All I Wanna Do,' was released to an enthusiastic
Japanese audience. She also recently performed at the Golden Stag
Festival in Romania along with Diana Ross and Sheryl
Crow.
Why do I like Her?
Many people compare Christina Aguilera with Britney Spears but why do they? These two girls are two totally different singers. Britney Spears has high vocals like Celine Dion, while Christina Aguilera has a strong voice like Mariah Carey and Witney Houston. And these two women were the people that inspired her to chase this career.
The voice of these two beautiful young, talented ladies (Aguelira & Spears) are very different so that's why the comparisons must stop. They're both female singstress yet travel in different musical paths. The similarities of these two young women are:
Well, the reason that I like Christina is that she is a very beautiful lady. Her voice is simply amazing and natural. She did not have singing leasons until recently, that's what I call natural, just like her beauty.
