Instead of countries, the world of Mutant Chronicles is ruled by
large companies; so called megacorporations. In the beginning
there where a lot of them, but when the escape from the earth happened
only four had survived. These four were Imperial, Capitol,
Bauhaus and Mishima.
The corporations exploited the new worlds, but after a series of wars
and the creation of the Brotherhood, a newcomer entered the
scene. They used the stock exchange to create a crash, which led to a
lot of cheap stocks that everyone was selling. Nobody considered
that everything that was being sold was also is being bought. A couple of
days later it became obvius what had happend and the new
corporation showed itself. Cybertronic had come to stay.
Almost all of the human inhabitants within the entire solarsystems are
citizens of a corporation. The corporation gives them a job, a place
to live in, security and possibilities for the future. Two of them
have a lot of non-citizen workers. They are Bauhaus and Mishima. The
poorest people are a kind of slave. They work but do not get
anything in exchange, except for Bauhaus where they get som sort
of security and place to live in. In Mishima they are just transported
to large underground cities where they are destined to live and work
for the rest of their lives.
The friendship between the different corporations can variate.
Since a lot of Bauhaus' top engineers and skilled workers, both
militarys and civlians, defected to Cybertronic when it was created,
the nobles in Bauhaus are impressed by its capability to recruit their
best skilled personnel.
Capitol, the largest of them all, is dependant upon Mishima and its
natural resources in order to make large numbers of weapons, cars
and tanks. Mishima on the other hand is dependant upon Cybertronic
and its advanced small electronic components for their mechs, and
the plastic-metal material that Mishima uses in their weapons.
The corporations are very bound to each other, but some are nonetheless
fighting.
