RED STREAKS

1999: THE DISCOVERY OF THE CENTURY.

The Beginning

In the year of 1998 a discovery of life was found on Mars.

It was thought that life when the discovery was made on that firey

red desert only existed milions of years ago. Of course the people

of Earth thought of life on Mars and it was written in many books

of the 20th century dealing with science fiction.

Now in the year of 1999 we have discovered much evidence

of great technology and other artifacts on the brilliantly large planet

of Saturn. Many scientists believe that our solar system is a great

fruit of life. When one civilization dies a new one hatches into this

solar system we call Sol. Other scientists did not believe in this

theory and made their own. This difference of opinion would soon

mean the downfall of peace.

All of the artifacts were studied in many different

universities and science institutions. After a world wide tour the

artifacts were soon brought to the United Nations Center for

debate. The countrys’ of the world all met in this building of peace.

Ambassadors’ from every country began to debate over what

would happen to the artifacts. The more powerfull countrys

(U.S.A., France, Great Britain, Russia, Jappan, Germany, and the

new world power of Egypt) began to threaten the smaller countrys

with destruction. Unfortunately a small faction of Iraqians gathered

and assasinated the ambassador of the United States. They even

televised it and threatened others with death and their countrys’

with nuclear missiles. On one condition, that they recieved all the

artifacts and noone tried to fool them. No one agreed with these

threats accept a few who wanted peace. Instead of banding

together to stop Iraq, they all broke up for the possesion of the

artifacts.

Now a new time in Earth’s history has begun. The

beginning of the war is at hand at this very moment and the press is

already calling it World War III. My name is David and I am a foot

soldier of the rank of private. I work for the pirate corps. We

work for who ever pays the highest price and the easiest job. I am

still on my way to my unit but while riding this hover train I’ve

heard some stories. The unit I was assigned to is a slacker unit.

Most of them are to lazy for front line work. They don’t have very

good manners and they smell bad too.

I sometimes wonder if I will be just like them when I am

completely joined in the army. I hope that someone there looks

familiar to me like an old friend. Or maybe I don’t want one of my

friends there. I would rather they were in a better unit.

"Hi, I’m Gallagher Hanson and you are..." There was a

short pause as I turned to see a short man of about five and three

quaters feet tall. He was wearing a dark gray uniform much like my

own. As I looked at him closer I noticed he was in my squad.

He had a blond-brown hair and greenish eyes which reminded me of

a day at home when I would lie down under a tree and listen to all

of natures wonders. Those were the good days of life. "Well are

you going to answer me?"

"Yes of course, my name is David and I do believe you are

going to be in my squad," I said abruptly. "I work for the pirate

corp. So what rank are you I didn’t notice it on your uniform?"

"I noticed that as well but anyway I’m a Second

Lieutenant," he answered in a high voice. "I hope to be in

command of the whole squad by next month. I know command is

tough especially with such an independent group as this."

"Yes."

"I’m glad you agree."

"I hope I don’t cause you any trouble because I wish to be

promoted and to go to a better unit. I’ve heard some crazy tails

about this group, but they pay well." As I looked down at my

watch I noticed how late it was. "We better get some sleep

because we are supposed to be getting to the headquaters by about

three or four o’clock tommorrow morning."

"I got you," he added as he yawned. "See you in the morning

tommorrow."

The first day of action

The morning when I woke up there was a bright light coming

straight into my window and slowly going by. I slowly lowered my

head. A small noise could be heard in audible with at least two men

whispering. Click, Click.

"Good that means that there’s probably only two of them,"

I whispered to myself."Gallagher are you there." I heard no

answer. Slowly I reached under the bed to the luggage holders and

pulled out a small cylinder shaped leather bag. As quietly and with

as little movement as possible I pulled out a small knife (which was

the only weapon I had at the time).

I heard another snap and then I knew it was a gun and the

safety was just turned off. The light was turned toward my bed

which I had now rolled behind. As far as I knew Gall was still

asleep so it was up to me.

Then I heard a small high voice. It was Gall’s. It said ,"what’s

going on?" It didn’t take him long to notice that something bad was

up. He slowly pulled out a revolver or pistol of some kind.

There was another snap as Gallagher came out of the bunk.

After a small struggle with the quilt he got untangled and down

where I was with a minimum of noise.

"Damn, I don’t have any ammo for this gun. It’s useless

unless we get in hand to hand fighting. Even then it’s so short it

wouldn’t help much."

"Shut up," I sneered.

Suddenly and violently the air exploded with the sound of

gun fire. Knowing our weapons would be worthless in a gunfight

we stayed down. As soon as the gun fire stopped we both looked

up and noticed the room next to ours had burst into flames and was

filled with screams and yells.

"That was close."

"Sure was. I never like to fight but sometimes I have to.

For money or for my life. Hopefully not for my life."

In a second they heard a huge crash like someone breaking

glass with a rock. Noticing what was about to happen we both ran

for the door.

"It’s locked," we both said in unison.

In a split second decision I walked back from the door.

Then as fast and as hard as I could I run. I ran faster than a cheetah

and as I jumped in the air I looked like a fast bird going into flight.

I lifted my leg and kicked the door. It flew open with a fury and hit

one of the pedestrians running by. We both ran out just as we

heard the grenade drop into the room. Gallagher shut the door as

the grenade exploded and destroyed all our equipment and clothing.

"At least that is over," I said.

"But the battle isn’t over yet," he added.

"Why are you always so negative about things Gall?"

"First of all stop calling me Gall and second I like to look at

how bad it could get," he said. "That way I will never be

disappointed at what happens later. Doesn’t that make sense to

you?"

"I don’t know Gallagher, what do you think I think?"

"Hello gentleman," a strange voice echoed from behind us.

As we slowly turned we noticed we were surrounded by soldiers

with guns. "Nice to meet you. I am Second Sargeant Colson and

you are my prisoners. Drop your weapons and you won’t be shot."

"Better do what he says. Looks like at least a dozen of them," I

whispered. "We figure out..."

"No talking or else."

"Or else what?" I exclaimed.

"Never ask that question," Gallagher explained. "Now we

are going to be done for. Stay as close to me as possible and

be observant. I knew this was going to happen," Gallagher added.

"At least it can’t get any worse."

"It could get a lot worse," Gallagher concluded.

There was a small amount of movement coming from the

area behind one group of guards. And suddenly a large bulky man

jumped out and attacked one of the men. All of the men turned

around to see what the commotion was. Just at that instant the

fight turned into a hit and run brawl.

"I ‘em out!" I yelled. At that moment I attacked the guard

next to me. Whap! His face was nailed with a quick elbow

manuever. "Hello, I’m your worst nightmare!"In a split second

decision I took the other guard by me and bashed his head into the

others.

Meanwhile the large bulky man was on a rampage. The

soldiers tried to restrain him but at no avail. He threw off all

the soldiers and headed straight for Officer Colson. He noticed

the large man coming and pulled out his pistol. Gallagher,

because of my taking out the guards, knocked the gun out of his

hand. Noticing he was a dead man, Colson ran for his life.

Fortuneately, a slender man dropped from the ceiling landing

right on top of the officer. All the soldiers began to run accept

for the ones we had detained.

"Now they will kill us for sure," Gallagher said solemnly.

"They will probably be back with help."

"You are so negative!" I said beginning to get annoyed by

his bickering.

"Who are you, and why are you here?"

"I’m the one that should be asking the questions," I

said,"and who are you? Why are you here?" I emphasized. The

large man threw a quick elbow as one of the soldiers tried to get

up.

"I should pound you for that," the large man’s deep voice

threatened. He slowly worked his way through the bodies up to

me. It was then that I noticed he was a towering seven feet tall

compared to me at six and a half feet. As soon as he got to me he

picked me up off the ground high into the air.

"Hey, what do you think you are doing!"

"I’m teaching you a lesson you will never forget." His fist

pulled slowly back like a loading catapult. "Now feel pain from my

fist."

"Stop, you fool!" A very deep voice said. As I looked into

the shadows I saw a cloaked figure moving our way. Slowly my

knife found its way into my hand. "Please do not use your weapon.

We are friends."

A bad day in space

Meanwhile on the near moon of Earth, a large object is slowly

moving into orbit. "Ready to land whenever you are."

"Fire retros! We are going in for a landing. Left turn!

Slow velocity and put this crate down luitenant. All troops spread

in spider formation. Stay within range of the short range radio!"

the captain shouted as the ship touched down on a vulnerable flat

spot of the moon.

"Sir, landing gear secure,"the landing pilot said to the

captain. "We will have to launch within the next two days. If we

don’t this bucket will slip and probably take damage."

"Very well Will. You heard the man! We’ve got a forty-

eight hour window to setup artificial gravity generators, a defense

perimeter, and the landing pad. Make sure you get the weapons

ready for action."

"Captain Jenson, sensors are picking up three small blips on

our radar. I’ve never seen this kind of ship before."

"Look for a sign of what country they’re from."

"Sir, they aren’t coming from Earth they are coming from

space. They’re coming from the direction of the outer planets!"

"All troops arm yourselves and evacuate the ship. Grab all

the equipment you can. The United States of America is routing

for us! We need the moon! And you’ve got to get it for us," he

screamed with fear. "Com officer, get us in contact with all thirt-

six of our men."

"Aye, aye, sir."

"Keep them posted on our situation."

"Sir, Sargeant Johannson has a visual on one of the craft.

I’m patching him through..."

"Captain are you recieving this?" there was a short pause.

"Yes, I hear you."

"This thing is about two times the size of the DARK HORSE.

Oh, and another thing sir, this thing doesn’t look human." Suddenly

a large burst of light came from the unkown ship and the signal broke

up. Within the next few seconds, on all viewing screens of the thirty-

six men went to static. Fortunately, sounds were heard, but these

sounds were not good ones.

The com officer pannicked, "Sir we have been hit by one of

the other ships. All video contact is gone. We can still hear ‘em."

"Aaahhhh, I’ve been hit!" was heard from one of the

speakers. That identical sound was heard a dozen times.

"This is private Johnson. I’m hurt but not bad. They are

using some kind of laser weapon. It skimmed my arm."

"We’ll send all the help we can," the captain promised Johnson.

The outside view of the small battle was a masacre. Man

after man was floating into space, because there’s no gravity. Only

the few men that got there guns loaded and flew to cover were still

alive. "Should we do a personnel check?" Will asked.

"Only do a personel check if we still have the undamaged

equipment to do so. If not they are on there own." As the captain

looked out the window he saw many of his friends motionless in

space. Those dead men only had the non-gravity float to help them

move.

"We just got the check in. There are nine of them left, but

that’s not including four wounded. It looks grim. Aboard our ship

there are twelve of the original twenty crewmen. Sir, are you o.k."

There was an expression of absolute fear, pain, and anger in his

mind.

"Yes I hear you Ian(the Comm Officer), I was just thinking

of all our dead comrades. We went through all our military lives

together. Now it’s over for most of them," the captain said while

saddly sighing.

In a burst of light the front of the ship exploded revealing a

huge hole. Through the hole all could see the three unknown ships

came into formation.

"Run for your lives." While running out of the ship the

captain grabbed the short range radio. Quickly finding a place to

hide, he sat down and surveyed the battlefield. In his mind it

looked grim. With no more than thirty-five men he had to make a

stand. "All troops able to shoot and move follow me. Use a

shooting retreat manuever!"

"Acknowledged." As more men were killed in the retreat,

the line got together and prepared for a stand. "We’re all ready, sir,

just give the word."

"Every body get up and fire," the captain shouted in agony

as he saw one of his men cut to pieces by the lasers.

"Sir," I young man appeared carrying a large crate.

"What is it?" the captain said. "And... can it help us win

this battle."

"Yes sir it’ll help. It’s a Bazooka Launcher with two

rockets. Should I fire?"

"Choose the one we’ve been pounding and destroy it if

possible." He fired the shot! As it sizzled in everything seemed to

be in slow motion. Probably because of it being occupied by other

shooting and it shooting at us the rocket hit. The vehicle began to

explode in a large flame. "Flames in space?"

"Maybe oxygen from inside the craft made the fire," the

young man said. "Sir, we don’t stand a chance out here. We

should retreat. Are we going to retreat sir?"

"No, I’m not abandonning my men out there. I promised

Johnson I’d help him."

"Grab him! We’ve got to get out of here before it’s to late.

Johnson’s probably dead by now," Ian demanded. "If he’s not dead

then he will die in a short while. He had important equipment with

him but it’s probably destroyed by now. Will you come willingly or

do we have to drag you?" Two men grabbed him.

"I’ll have you court marshalled for this Ian!" The men

carried him off as they retreated. As the men got to safety they

were counted to see who was left. The captain was knocked

unconncious because his uniform was penetrated and he lost air.

He was being treated now by the last doctor left. After all men had

returned there were only seven of them left.

"Set up camp here," Ian commanded.

"Who died and put you in charge of this operation Ian?"

Will demanded an answer. "I will follow any of our commanders

orders to the last, but I’ll never follow your orders when you are in

supreme command. I’ll never let you get supreme..."

"Stop bickering you two. I still have command and I intend

to keep it for awhile," he turned to Will. "Thank you, for defending

me."

The future of man

The dark figure of the man slowly moved out of the

darkness. "So you must be David."

"Yeah, so how do you know that? I don’t ever recall

meeting you before."

"Yeah, I ain’t ever seen you neither," Gallagher also added.

"Ah, you may think we’ve never met. Yet, I’ve met you

many times before. You may not know it, but I probably know you

better than you know yourself. You wouldn’t be able to

comprehend the knowledge I have obtained in my lifetime."

"How do we know you are all you say you are?" I asked

angrily.

"You will learn in time and in time itself."

"What do you mean by that?"

"You will lea..."

"Yeah, I know, in time and in time itself. Stop talking in

riddles. Tell me what you have to say."

"Ah, but am I talking in riddles or logic of the mind and the

past and future?"

There was a short pause while I thought of what to say to

him in response, "I know my history lessons well. You are talking

using the Socratic method. I don’t like it when people do that."

"You are being very ignorant about this, oh most protective

one. Have I broken your wall already? Are you so easy to anger

even a mockingbird could anger you?"

Gallagher interrupted our hard to understand conversation

(at least hard for me to understand). "Why don’t you tell him what

you have to say and get off his back? Oh, and from now on leave

me out of this conversation."

"Good Gallagher you have just solved a puzzle, because I’m

here."

"I don’t get it Dave, do you?"

"Again you have solved a puzzle which I can answer. Now

I would say something I did earlier, but Dave, as you call him, is

angered by what I said before."

"So, who are these two men that are with you?"

The dark figure made an arm gesture pointing in the

direction of the larger man of seven feet tall. "Look at this man’s

clothing and you may be able to guess where he came from and

who he is." He was wearing a short cloth that was the skin of

some old time animal. Nothing else was worn by this man. His

large massive chest and his legs were completely bare. He was

slightly lop-sided(one leg looked longer than the other). The dark

man continued, "He is the mighty Conan the Barbarian. You may

ask how I got him since he lived one-thousand years in the past. I

picked him up in the year A.D. 478 actually to be exact." He

paused again and pointed to the smaller more agile man. "You

know this man as Rambo!" He laughed for a short time. "Ha! Ha!

Ha!" He snickered, "Of course you know I’m just kidding." He

snickered again. The room broke out into laughter as we decided

the joke was acctually funny and that he wasn’t telling the truth.

Well, hey, maybe Rambo had lost weight. You never know,

anyway he already told us the other man was Conan. Yah. Right, I

believe that.

He suddenly got serious again, "Anway, as I was saying this

man’s name is Ghost. You may not know him but he was very

wise in the trade of the theif. In the time of Caesar he did a great

bit of stealing of the Imperial Army’s supplies and money. He was

feared by all merchants who went by land. He was named Ghost

because he could move invisibly through impossible situations.

This made him anatural for the job I have for him."

"And that job is?" I asked before he could continue.

"You will learn when the time is right. Also when it would

be usefull to you. Until then you will train for our mighty task that

is at hand."

"What is the task?"

"Later, right now we must go!"

"Where?" Gallagher and I said in unison.

He started to walk out the door. "I will explain on the way.

For now follow me."

As we walked into a good sized wagon of some foriegn

design. I had never seen anything like this before. It had noone

pulling it yet it was nothing like a car or truck of any time period.

"Shouldn’t we get our stuff before we go?"

"You won’t need it where we are going. The place we are

headed to is safe, and it has all you’ll need. Besides, you never

know who could be coming to check on those men. Oh, by the

way, take these pins."

"What do you want us to do with them?"

"Wear them somewhere at all times, of course."

The journey lasted till almost midnight without a word.

Then the dark man, or whatever he is, told us to get off. I could

see a small tent in some bare woods to our left. To our right was

nothing but grassland.

"What? This is the place you were talking about. All the

stuff I want and need won’t be there!"

"No! This is not the place is was talking about. This is only

a stop on a long journey."

"So, we’re spending the night here?"

"Well, step in and find out."

Gallagher moved in front of the figure and said, "Why don’t

you go first. That way we know it is safe, if you know what I

mean."

"You mean, you don’t trust me?"

"Well, I don’t trust anybody no matter how good they are.

You see, that way you won’t lose as much because you are

protective of all that is owned."

Walking swiftly, I grabbed my friends arm and walked into

the tent. What I saw inside was incredible. It looked like my lifes

history being played before me. I was astonished by some of the

things I saw. The whole tent was illuminated by this pardicament.

Then, abruptly the pictures stopped and it turned into black sky

with many stars moving in a spherical shape into the top of the tent.

The entrance slowly began closing.

"Let’s get out of here!" Gallagher yelled over the growing

noise of wind which began spinning. We both went for the

opening, but alas, it was to late. Now the stars were spinning so

quickly we both fell to the ground with dizziness. In a moment I

blacked out.

When I awakened there was a small burst of sunlight

coming through the small entrance to the tent. Gallagher was

nowhere in sight.

"Gallagher are you out there?" All I heard was a long

word. A word I didn’t expect to here.

"Wwwwoooowwww." I repeated my question and got the

same answer.

I then walked out to see what was going on and I saw a

mesmerizing sight. There was a great sun which took over much of

the sky. There was another smaller planet or moon under it. Both

planets were a bright red and the sun was so huge it seemed to

consume the other planet.

"Where are we?" I said in amazement. "And where are the

others? Have they left us or are they in trouble?"

"So many questions, to many questions," a voice could be

heard from the east.

"I hope that’s them," I said.

"It’s probably not them," Gallagher tried to explain. I

didn’t listen. Sounds could be heard from some time of plant life at

the base of the very round hill we were standing on. "Look at that

plant. It is alive."

"Are you sure it is moving or is it something inside the

plant?" I asked the non-expert on plants.

I walked off the hill to get a closer look and to see what was

down there. "Wow, it is the bush that is moving! There is an

interesting fault here." As Gallagher watched I walked all the way

around the hill. "This fault goes all the way around the hill. It has

metallic minerals in the crack. I guess this planet is made of lots of

hardened metals." As Gallagher listened I looked down and saw

some kind of paper with writing on it. "What’s this?"

Gallagher couldn’t see it from where he was. "What is it?

Something that can help us?"

"I’m not sure man. It has some weird writing on it."

Suddenly, the crack filled with an incandescent light and a hatch

began to open.

"Darned lift! Never works when you need it to!" a voice

said as we saw the hatch finish the process of opening. A

spider-like creature popped its head out and started to probe the

area with his, or its, eyes. When it finished its turn and spotted me

I was leaning down and looking right into it very closely. "Aaahhh!

Don’t startle me like that."

"Please let’s not now we might be heard or seen." We both

followed the strange creature down the hatch and he closed it once

we were inside.

"What are we running from that might hear or see us?"

Gallagher asked.

"That is a good question," the spider man said. "I’m sure your

friend will answer all your questions and more."

"Good. When do we see him?"

"Soon. But he is still making preparations. By the way,

about that incident on the surface. You scared me to death. I love

peace and quiet, but I don’t get it much. I hate this place at times

because it gets so loud! I have migraines so much since I started

working here."

"So sorry. You must understand I don’t do this much. In

fact, everything about today has been abnormal and very different

from normal days."

Gallagher, interested about the answering of many questions

like where we are and who this guy is, asked "What preparations

exactly might these be that you are talking about?..."

Then I added ,"...and what is your name?"

"My name is AFRGjfpvoerm."

"What?"

"S wfgk, wi kwuc zp AFRGjfpvoerm."

"You are talking gibberish." Suddenly, as if by surprise, the

spider creature made a gesture to follow him down the shaft of the

thin looking mine shaft. It then opened a door and a bright light hit

us. We then followed it into a large bright room. It looked very

classy compared to the shaft leading to it. There were computers

and other unknown, high tech looking, partially dirty equipment.

"Gallagher what is going on?"

"Xthe Y sleg ondgekjqwi." Gallagher said. What is going

on. Everyone sounds wierd. The spider dude is acting very

frantically. I hope nothing is fatally wrong. Write now there is

nothing I can do about it right now. I began searching the room for

something that is like a weapon. As I searched the last corner there

was a high-tech doohicky that looked like a Laser Gun from the

future.

Time of Great Need

As I stood toward the entrance I could see small robots

lying on the floor. The spider man (what we have called him since

we don’t know his name) was still fooling with the computer. All

the consoles were bringing up information very quickly. No normal

human being could read it that fast. This was especcially true since

it looked like an alien language.

I then heard something from above. It sounded like a

thundering earthquake that was on the surface. With Gallagher

following behind, I headed up the tunnel. He was looking battered

and amazed. His rifle looked similar to mine. I then made it to the

top of the tunnel...

To my surprise, the hatch opened before I could reach for

the handle. Suddenly, with a shriek of surprise from both sides of

the door, I brought my rifle to bear on the strange looking creature.

Unfortunately, the creature was faster than me, and before I could

get a shot off he tackled me. A shot from my laser gun sizzled into

the top of the shaft. This monster was strong! I pushed and

pushed. I fought as tough as I could, but he wouldn’t budge. As

we rolled in the dust of the narrow tunnel, I spotted Gallagher

trying to get a shot on him without hitting me. ‘Whap!’

I heard a crack as the monterous creature conected with a

surpise left claw. Then before he could get another hit, I rolled out

of the way of the second blow. Of course, this gave Gallagher the

shot he needed to kill the creature. ‘Blap!’ The shot from his laser

pierced the creature right through the midpoint of his body.

"Did you see that thing?" I asked sarcastically.

"It looked very evil and deadly! If I wasn’t here with this

gun," he paused a second with horror on his face, "who knows

what might have happened to you. He was big,ight {\fs24\cf1 \tab \ldblquote I\rquote m teaching you a lesson you will never forget.\rdblquote His fist \par \par pulled slowly back like a loading catapult. \ldblquote Now feel pain from my \par }\pard \ri2160\widctlpar\tx720\adjustright {\fs24\cf1 \par }\pard \ri2160\widctlpar\tx720\adjustright {\fs24\cf1 fist.\rdblquote \par }\pard \widctlpar\tx720\adjustright {\fs24\cf1 \par }\pard \ri2160\widctlpar\tx720\adjustright {\fs24\cf1 \tab \ldblquote Stop, you fool!\rdblquote A very deep voto orbit. \ldblquote Ready to land whenever you are.\rdblquote \par }\pard \widctlpar\tx720\adjustright {\fs24\cf1 \par }\pard \ri2160\widctlpar\tx720\adjustright {\fs24\cf1 \tab \ldblquote Fire retros! "That’s because we speak the same language. You know!

That thing we call English," he made a useless arm gesture.

As soon as he was done I pointed to him, and then I

proceded to do a circular gesture with my other finger around the

side of my head (to indicate he was crazy and not using memory).

"No. I don’t mean now I mean back in the lair when we were

talking gibberish to each other."

"Ahah. Now I understand. I wonder why that happened?"

he said.

"Well, easy my young man," a familiar voice came from

behind us. We both turned to see the cloaked man. "Hello there.

That happened because the translaters were jammed by enemy

forces who are here now. The problem has been fixed by your

spidery friend." I ran to him in order to capture him, but as soon as

I made contact with the image I fell right through him and onto the

ground.

"What are you? Who are you?" I yelled because of growing

anger that was inside me.

"Well right now, I’m only a hologram of my former self.

Right now, though, I suggest you don’t ask questions. Unless you

want to die, you should go back down the tunnel."

Following his instructions, we headed back to the control

center. Just before I finished my way down the tunnel, I heard the

sound of men jumping carefully into the shaft. Gallagher had

already made it to the tunnel exit. I then saw him open it as I was

running; he then climbed in. "Hurry! We can’t keep the hatch open

for much longer."

"I’m hurrying," I yelled as I heard the echo jump back.

Then, in a split second I tripped over something in the shaft and fell.

Momentarily stunned, all I could here was the soldiers coming

down the tunnel and the continuing chant of ‘David! Hurry! We

can’t keep this thing open much longer!’ Suddenly motivated by

some unknown force I drearily got up and ran like the wind just in

time to make it to the hatch. Just at that moment a laser bolt

sizzled as it continuously hit the door and surrounding walls. Once

I got in I found out what happened. We were jammed by an enemy

force then they tried to take us out without destroying the lab.

"If they didn’t care about the lab they would have just

dropped a detinator on us. Then there wouldn’t even be evidence

that there was ever a hill or lab here. The door won’t hold them out for long. We must do something, and I think swift action is neccesary!" as he said this he ran straight for a small panel. He then opened the panel and presses a large red button. Then he entered an access code and then turned to a lever and pulled it.

The computer whirred with displeasure. It sounded like it was fighting itself to decide whether or not to accknowledge all the changes. Then it finally made a noise saying that the self-defense weapons were active and there was a ten minute count to self-destruct of the lab.

"Go to the access hatch," the large spider said.

"What large access hatch?" I asked him.

At this, he quickly waddled over to us and pointed at a black and yellow hatch with the words ‘access hatch’ above it. Boy did I feel stupid; We went to it and tried our best to open it. It was clear to us, this was meant for something much stronger than a human. Although, after a long struggle the spider seemed to finish his work and helped us with it. We quickly rushed in hoping to get out of this fuzzy situation alive. On our way out he also handed each of us a pistol.

Once I crawled in, I got a good look around. Gallagher started whispering something to himself, and it sounded spooky. There were three paths that we could take so I let the spider lead. He moved out in front, down the middle tunnel.

After a short while,

Man I hate those hairy beast guys. (Use this later)
