July 1, 2003: First Official Undeniable Contact: The galactic council approaches earth. Having gone through possible landing sites, they have chosen Stratford, Ontario, Canada as their base of operations.
August 23, 2003: Japanese Annex Canada: The Japanese learn of the aliens' plan to land in Stratford, and then execute their long-standing plan to buy over Canada (existant amoung the plans to by other countries). Hey, let's face it: even the name Canada sounds Japanese (It means village, by the way). The Canadian federal and provinicial governments are bowelled over, and Stratford becomes the new capital of Canada. Stratford annexes St. Marys, London, Cambridge, Waterloo, Kitchener, Woodstock and Tavistock, and fills the gaps in between with smaller municipalities. Stratford becomes a metroplex/megacity.
September 22, 2003: Alien Colonization: First Wave: The galactic council sends its first colonization pods to the earth. Agreements with the Japanese are settled. The aliens become integrated with the human populance.
September 2, 2004: Stratford Central Galactic High School Officially Opens: Although already classes were running, the school did not officially open until this date. Students from all species/races attend.
September 2, 2010: The Campaign Begins...
And so, inbetween games, in those times when the usual GM or players are not available, I have my TFOS campaign to run. Neat premise, huh? REMEMBER: It's just fantasy. Like all things with TFOS, it's not to be taken seriously.
Rationalization Behind Stratford: One wonder why I chose Stratford as my location for my TFOS campaign. The explination is simple. For starters, the TFOS book suggests using your home town, as it is the one you are most familiar with. Second is the aliens' thinking. They were looking for a place that had fertile ground, great human artifacts, plenty of space, and a place where famous humans had come through. Stratford is the answer for each of these reasons. There is plenty of space around Stratford, with fertile soil and development. There are numerous antique and crafts stores around the Huron-Perth area, and finally, the Stratford Festival Theatre has been the stage for many stars, including Lorne Green, William Shatner and Christopher Plummer. Interesting fact: Thomas Edison once worked at the Stratford train station.
