DEICIDE

No. Not Decide! It's Deicide, a game made by Torquemada, Feywood's best buddy and fellow verger who left because.. well.. the only other verger as mature as him left.. I'm talking about Feywood.

Feywood and his disiple, Torquemada, are what I call the "Literary Vergers" or "Atheist Vergers" when I want to piss them off. Unlike most vergers, Feywood and Torquemada (named after an evil inquisitioner, how cute) wanted to make games with original and intelligent storylines instead of Final Fantasy clones and anime fan boy demos. But unlike Feywood, Torquemada actually made a game. You could say Deicide (Dei means god and cide means death in latin) was the first completed verge game, but I could never get to the ending since after two hours into the game I lost interest and/or got lost... Torquemada left the verge-scene and never polished his game, he said it was too cliché.

You could be right.. The game has one or two clichés.. Like the dark and macho hero and the evil priests who dont act the way they preach. But still, this is the least generic verge-game ever! And it's not because of the crappy klick & Play graphics.. Oh yeah.. I also forgot the story about magic reawakening in the near future.. that's clichéd. But still, the game is mature and beliveable enough to look original..

The best thing about the game are it's character and dialogue.. that's the reason I thought it was the best verge game of all time when it first came out.. You actually cared about the characters.. The only other verge game that does this is... Sully Chronicles kinda does it.. But not that much. I care more for most NPCs in Deicide than Squall or Rinoa.

Actually I care more about saving the roaches from extinction than Squall. Rinoa is kinda hot for a CG woman.

The main character is Adam Black and he's the generic cool macho man with a soft heart and "rebel without a cause" atitude. Actually, he does have a reason to be like that (unlike most verge characters), he is a war hero and you know what war heroes have to suffer thru... Even tho he's a clichéd character, he is still likable. Maybe because his best buddy is a geek.

You can also read books in the library. The entire world is so big and there is so much to do..

This game has some of the best dialogue of an verge game.. screw it, it has the best dialogue of any verge game. The scene in the Arcadian Nook (a bar) when Adam meets Leanna (His love interest or something) is particulary good.. the few times I've had fun reading what two really ugly stick people say and maybe the first time I wish a verge conversation had been longer. Here are some examples on what the two look like chatting in the bar:

Haha, New Jersey.

Deicide is a long game, I took me two house to finnaly loose interest and maybe It'll take another two to finish if it has an end (that's pretty long for a Verge game, Blimpo warrior takes an hour if you beat it in Speedy Gonzales mode and Zeux World.. Well.. that's another story.). So unless you are a verge fanatic or someting I dont recommend you to download it. But if you do download it (and are a verge fanatic) then you will fall in love, this is one of the best verge games ever. I type too much.
