TEARS OF VENGEANCE

The First Age of Verge was the age of Galaxy Destroyer, Sully Chronicles and Legend of the Sylph. Verge games were very similar to the RPGs of the era, no fancy 3-D graphics, no FF7... So verge games were good.. Then came the Next-Generation RPGs (With FF7) and verge was lost in limbo.. But before all was lost was the golden age of Verge.. The times of Saga of the Stars, Gods Destiny and a little demo made by two of the coolest and most talented vergers ever: Tears of Vengeance.

Most of the graphics and CHR files were made by Spram (me), Blue Star made a lot of Tile art and some characters, plus all the coding and map building. THe game was originally going to be a animal collectors game in which you used a machine to turn two animals into a mutation of both.. that's why you get the animal-speaking device in this game and that's why the towns have so many animals and that's why gloggy exsist.

Gloggy was a character Spram made, and it looked really freaking cool. At the time, the 1337 vergers considered gloggy as the official verge mascot (Now there is none, since there are no 1337 vergers). To find gloggy you must first get the animal-talking device (trade for a comic book you find in the library) and then find a hole in the wall next to the beds in the lab (big building at the top of the first town). Talk to the man and be mean. Gloggy also appeared in Blue-Star's own Gloggy's quest (a Blimpo Warrior clone?) and a Frogger Clone which I forgot the name.

For one reason or another, Blue Star got tired of making this game (like he got tired of making every other game he started) like everyone else, but unlike everyone else, he actually made another demo after getting tired.. The next Tears of Vengeance (TOVS) was completely different (using some of the same graphics, but more by Blue-Star, since mine sucked.. I admit it). It was darker and more "mature". Why? Maybe he took himself too seriously, maybe he thinks cartoony games suck (He once told me Banjo-Kazooie was a "Kiddie game".. and he could be right, if Banjo Kazooie wasn't so damn FUN). We will never know Blue-Star's ways.
The next screenshots are from Tears of Vengeance two:

In the second TOVS, Ruben's mother dies because she ate some poisoned jelly, so our hero must find the evil Rosk company and get his vengeance.. At least the story has something to do with the title. Blue Star made some mistakes in this release. First, he didn't include the command that made your character walk faster while holding Ctrl and.. Second: What I call the "Tarkuss Cave"(second screenshot) (everything bad has Tarkuss name in the world of Verge.. heehee.. I Call it tarkuss cave because the song played in this area is called "Tarkuss the Tyrant" made by Blue-Star and is pretty good..) In the Tarkuss cave the farther away you get from the entrance the darker it gets until you literary cant see anything. Worst of all, you have to step on 5 switches that can hardly be seen in a full-lit room, even less on the dark and one of them is hidden behind a rock.. eww... I had to cheat to pass this cave.

After this TOVS demo, Blue Star decided to beging AGAIN with a brand-new third demo. But as you can see in the above screenshots (the first is from TOVS2 and the second from TOVS3), some areas (especially at the begining) are the same.. But the story is different and yet, even darker in the third version. But the biggest difference is that TOVS3 goes back to the "Find the seven keys" kinda story, maybe Blue-Star was feeling nostalgic.
The following screenshots are from TOVS 3

The first town, the port town, the sand cave and even the Tarkuss cave are mostly the same, but Blue-Star changed the Tarkuss cave to be easier, well.. duh, it used to be almost impossible the first time. The overworld was changed to an even bigger one with even smaller towns and stuff.

The coolest thing about this demo is that Blue-Star FINALLY used the mega-super awesome vsps (tile-sets or world-town-dungeon graphics) that Spram made.. Boats.vsp and Palace1.vsp, both Spram's best work (hehe, no REALLY) and some of the best (if not THE best) tile art made in Maped. Of course, he used half of both vsps, but still, they look so freaking cool.

The sand cave makes a comeback from the second TOVS and is unchanged here. That is a good thing, since the sand cave was pretty cool, you can feel lost without going in circles.

The pyramid in TOVS3 is another nice puzzle-place, and the end to the third and last TOVS demo... (The second screenshot is from the first demo's ending).. Unfortunately, I dont have some of the lost demos in my computer and I dont think they're in the Verge homepage. SO those can be lost forever unless Blue-Star still has them.. After TOVS Blue-Star did some other demos and a full game called "License to Poop", the first complete verge game other than The Sully Chronicles at that time. So let's see, Blue Star (or BS as some call him) made a fruckload of demos:
TOVS1
TOVS2
TOVS3
Gloggy's quest
An old demo with a dark knight (I made the chr)
License to Poop
Two futuristic games (the last he ever did)
and maybe more...
...and I think he wants to make a new one. He is right there with Hahn, Tarkuss, Ninjaman, vecna, Spram, Seren, Wooly and McGrue as some of (I forgot others) the Legendary Vergers of the Golden Age. (Yes, If I'm not a legendary verger then you can eat my pooh.)
