Story
Tifa's story is rather a sad one (well, it
made me cry, anyway). The incident at Nibelheim, five years
before we first meet Tifa at her bar in the Sector 7 slums, left
her homeless, orphaned, severely wounded and separated from her
would-be boyfriend Cloud Strife. When AVALANCHE reunited the
pair, and Cloud decided to stay and help in the fight against
Shinra, Tifa thought that they might have a chance to be together
at last - that is, until Aeris arrived on the scene. Strangely,
and somewhat disappointingly, a vicious girl-on-girl scrap did
not ensue. Stranger still, when Aeris departed for the Promised
Land, Tifa decided against making her feelings clear to Cloud,
leaving him to only guess at what she might be thinking when she
stands there blushing and playing with her hair while secretly
looking at him out of the corner of her eye. For God's sake girl,
spit it out!
Fighting style
Tifa's pugilistic fighting technique forces her to take a position on the front row in battle. You might be tempted to stick her at the back, load her with Materia and make her the main healer/magic user in the absence of Aeris, but that way you won't be able to take advantage of her best asset, her powerful fists. (She has a few other great assets too, but we won't go into that.) This also pretty much invalidates her awesome Limit Break combo, as well as lowering her Hit Points, which aren't really all that high to start with. We recommend keeping her up front, equipping her with Command Materia and perhaps a few basic spells, and using HP Plus orbs to keep her HP level in line with that of the other front-row characters like Cloud and Red. Leave Ultima and the summons to the stronger characters and let Tifa do what she's best at.
Tifa's Limit Breaks
Note about Tifa's Limit Breaks: Each time
Tifa learns a Limit attack, it gets added to her combo. Each
attack is represented by a slot wheel in the slot machine that
appears. Stop that wheel on "Hit" and she pulls off the
attack; stop it on "Miss" and that part of the combo is
missed out; stop it on "Yeah!" and extra damage is
caused.
Level 1: Beat Rush - A quick three-hit attack that isn't actually
as powerful as you might expect.
Level 1: Somersault - The second part of Tifa's Limit combo is
this impressive-looking kick. That's got to hurt.
Level 2: Waterkick - A low sweep which, bizarrely, seems to have
the power of water. Eh?
Level 2: Meteodrive - Regardless of size, Tifa grabs her opponent
and backdrops them painfully.
Level 3: Dolphin Blow - Tifa summons a dolphin to uppercut her
enemy. No, we don't understand it either...
Level 3: Meteor Strike - Is there no limit to this girl's
strength?! Tifa effortlessly picks up her target and launches it
skywards before bringing it crashing back to earth with a huge
explosion.
Level 4: Final Heaven - For her grande finale, Tifa focuses all
her energies into her fist before charging forward in a blaze of
light to crush her unfortunate opponent. Let's see Aeris try that
one!
