Attaining Citizenship
(Joining the Cyros Community)

Although, joining the Cyros community isn't difficult, we do have a few requirements in order to make sure that quailty game play and absolute fairness is acheived with every member.

For Players

In order to apply to be a character in Cyros you must be willing to follow our terms of service.

  • Try to be as cooperative as possible with all of your group (especially your DM). Remember, these games are for social and entertainment purposes. The main objective is to have fun.

  • You may discuss an issue with the DM, but remember, the DM has the final say over his/her adventure. If a gross injustice does occur, please bring the problem to the attention of the Council of Elders and we will try to work out a comprimise.

  • Players should give at least two days notice if they are going to miss a game they have comitted to. If absences are a frequent occurence, players may be suspect to termination.

  • Follow AOL's TOS. Remember not to send out chain letters and other such unwanted mass mailings.

  • Most importantly, remember that Cyros is just a game. There is a big difference between being "in character" and "out of character". Your character may do things you would never dream of in real life. This is the fun of roleplaying. This means that conflicts should only arise between "characters" not members. Please be polite and respectful of all Cyros members, even if your "character" is not polite and respectful to all other "characters". There is a place for roleplaying and a place for real life. Please, make sure you know the difference.

Character Creation

There are a few rules for character creation to insure quality and fairness for everyone.

  • Please download the official Cyros character sheet, fill it out ,and mail it to the District DMs. If you do not own an unzipping program, copy this text document into an email.
(note: This document ONLY works properly if opened within the AOL browser.)

  • Characters must have a good (at least 200 word) description/background to even be considered.

  • We use a 78 point distribution of attribute points instead of character rolls. This keeps it fair for every member and allows for you to choose any class, along with what advantages you wish to group with disadvantages.

  • We don't use racial ability adj, but if your adj would allow higher than 18, you may distribute this high. Exceptional Strength costs one point per category. 18/91-99 Strength would equal 22 distribution points. A minotaur with 20 strength would cost 25 distribution points.

  • As of now, the only races/classes available are those in the Ad&D 2nd edition PHB and those approved in the Player Resource section of the site. Our world is rapidly expanding though, and if you have interest in play testing a new class or race please send a write up on it to the District DMs And we will contact you as soon as possible.

  • We use the Ad&d 2nd edition PHB and DMG. Your character must follow the rules laid out in these books. If you wish to petition to use something not contained in these books (ie. kits, proficiencies), please email your request to District DMs. This in no way guarantees acceptance, though.

For Dungeon Masters

In order to apply to be a DM, you must be willing to complete our expectations of Cyros DM's.

  • Cyros DM's must be able to hold a minimum of one roleplaying session every 2 weeks. This can include campaign or regular gaming sessions. Colloseum and other free form gaming sessions count as half normal games.

  • There should be no unblancing of the game world with powerful situations including experience, magic, or material goods. Magic items inserted into the PC's hands must be approved by the District Dm's. And, no more than half the experience for a level up of the lowest PC in the session should be given at one time. (If an extreme case occurs.. Lev 1 PC grouped with Lev 9, please consult a District DM.)

  • DMs have final say over his/her adventure (within reason, of course), but please be as fair and impartial as possible in every situation.

  • Log every session and send it to the District DM's with exp and monetary updates for characters.

If you agree with these rules and want to be a part of Cyros, please mail your application (character sheet for players) to the Doomstar, Firstlord, and Mdknigt for approval. And welcome to the community!
