Welcome
to the home of the Northern Fury. We are the defense force for Icemule
Trace, Pinefar and the surrounding regions. We serve under the command
of Valicar VonWraithmaster, a long-time citizen of these parts. Herein
you will find the Fury's clan rosters unit by unit and information to
help you decide if duty in the Fury is for you. You will also find the
steps to follow to join our elite team.
The Fury
is for all ages and all professions, but not necessarily for all people.
We are after all a military organization. We pride ourselves upon strict
discipline, honor, courage, and loyalty. In the frozen north, fear benefits
no one, cowardice holds no reward, but luck favors those whose courage
holds true. Thus we embrace the deadly northlands as home and live according
to her laws. |
For
the moment, we are in the first stage of a multi-part plan to build a
sizable defense force.Stage one incorporates only one small group of Northland
folk dedicated to keeping the region free from invaders. These few shall
make up the initial Northern Fury and many will function as officers as
the Fury expands to many different units. |
My
plan is to have these few trained to be a crack team of lethal fighters
that will train the many that will be joining. During this time I will
be taking applications from those interested in joining. Once I have the
initial group trained, we move to stage two in which the new recruits
will be activated. |
Stage
two will see the accepted recruits put through a basic training of sorts
(see below for details). After completing the initial training, each new
member of the Fury will be assigned to a unit. Units will be divided up
by age groups. Units, in accordance with our northern theme will be named
by clans. Initially, they will be named Clan of the Tiger's Claw, Clan
of the Bear's Tooth, Clan of the Wolverine's Might, Clan of the Snow Dragon,
and a few other nifty titles. |
Thus
each clan will have a totem they revere. We may even go as far as having
things such as warcries we yell before charging into the press of combat.
A clan should be made up of no less than 7 members and no more than 15,
though in some cases, this may change. Assignments to a clan will be made
by the acting Sergeant Major with the Chieftain (General) of the Clans
advising. |
Stage
three will come about once we have filled the needed officer positions
and taken on and trained enough troops to fill 5 clans all told. At this
point we will truly be a working military force. We will of course be
taking on new recruits as they come and creating new clans (and promoting
new officers to lead such) as needed. |
Basic
Training will entail classroom study of basic tactics, local history,
regional fauna, and what the Fury requires in the way of discipline and
etiquette. There will also be plenty of field training designed to help
us to test the abilities of each recruit to aid in unit placement. |
Recruits
who cannot keep with the required discipline, fulfill their training obligations,
or handle the rigors of the training will be dismissed. They may of course
re-apply at a later date when they feel they are ready to serve in the
Fury. |
Upon
clan assignment, new members of the Fury will undergo intensive training
in the field designed to test and temper the mettle of even the most bold
hunter. The training is designed to teach the clan to fight under the
most adverse and frightening conditions imaginable while maintaining order,
combat effectiveness, and good teamwork. |
There
will also be competitions between clans that will test them to the limits.
Be it known that such contests will never entail combat between clans,
but rather be quest based and require vast knowledge of the Realms and
proficiency in combat. |
Realistically,
Icemule is seldom invaded, but when it is, the destruction is usually
severe. The Fury will strive to lessen such a blow or to drive off invaders
altogether. Now because Trace is seldom invaded, the Fury will have a
lot of down time. |
Thus
the role of the Fury is one of a tool for role-play opportunities. It
will build lasting friendships, and breed interaction amongst folks in
a time where group hunting a camaraderie are things of the distant past. |
