Ravichandra started learning to play flute at the age of 12 years under the able guidance of his father Vidwan.Sri.K. Raghvendra Rao. Being a quick learner, he started performing on stage at the age of 14 years and since then he has never looked back performing regularly all over the country and abroad. Ravichandra Rao has developed his own style of playing the flute which has been widely appreciated and accepted by senior artists in the field of music. Ravichandra's novel presentation style of compositions and his broad outlook and approach to music as a concept has been well appreciated all over the country and abroad. He recently returned from a sucessful European tour during which he performed in Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland and Belgium. Apart from giving regular Carnatic Classical music concerts, he also happened to perform with renowned Jazz, world music, Western classical musicians. He did quite a few experimental music shows with the popular Cello player Saskia D Has of Netherlands, Trumpet player Rajesh Mehta of Berlin and Drummer Allan of Amsterdam.
Ravichandra regularly performs at All India Radio and Doordarshan being recognized as a 'B-high' grade artist. He is also one of the most sought after artists in the music recording industry for light classical, classical, Fusion and film music.

Ravi not only mastered the art of flute playing but also is equally proficient in playing the Kanjira (a South Indian Classical percussion instrument - small, round, single-side skinned intrument played with a single hand). At present he is continuing studying music under the able guidance of the versatile, multifaceted and renowned music composer Vidwan.Shri.Anoor Anantha Krishna Sharma. Due to his knowledge in playing the percussion instrument, Ravi's flute concerts are filled with rythmic complexities complemented by high speed fingering techniques which is a stunning sight to see. Ravi is equally talented in presenting soft melodies filled with emotions which can touch and soothe the heart of the listener.
