Welcome to the Name Database! These pages are designed as a resource for anyone looking for a good name, especially writers trying to name characters. Unfortunately, I am unable to create a search engine for this database. I may be good, but I'm not THAT good.
The names are divided into a girls and a boys list. You can look at a specific first letter, or first two letters, or simply browse the database. Each entry lists a name in bold print, plus the origin and meaning of the name.
The information here is accurate as far as I know, being gathered from several baby name books. There are of course multiple sources for many names, and not all are listed here. And I am not even going to pretend I have listed all possible names. I have what I think to be a couple thousand names, which is a good start, and should be sufficient for most searches. If not, just make up your own name. :-)

Under Development!!! This site is currently undergoing revisions that will:
1. Fix the backgrounds. They should be black with white text.
2. Add 1000+ new names to the database.
3. Provide hyperlinks to the "see _name_" notations, making the pages easier to navigate.
Thanks for your patience! Believe me, these revisions are a big job!

The LindenTree Name Database was compiled by me, LindenTree/Blue. Since this is just a list of names and meanings which I lifted from other sources, I do not feel that I have a right to claim this work as my own.
